Apex Legends devs confirm more Horizon changes planned after Chaos Theory nerfs
The Apex Legends Chaos Theory update nerfed Horizon’s ultimate ability, and it seems that the developers aren’t done yet. Respawn are planning additional changes for her Gravity Lift.
Horizon immediately rose in popularity after her introduction in Apex Legends Season 7. Her abilities have earned her a huge record of wins, which is why she was hit with some nerfs in the Apex Legends Chaos Theory update.
The biggest change was a longer cooldown on her Black Hole ultimate, up from two minutes to three. Now, Apex fans are demanding that Respawn also make some changes to her Gravity Lift. The devs haven’t forgotten this, and have a few more plans for the Legend.
Horizon is leading the Apex Legends meta in Season 8, and Respawn are planning to bring get her back in line through more nerfs. This time, they will focus on on her Gravity Lift tactical ability.
Lead game designer Daniel Klein explained on Reddit that changing her tactical was something they’d considered, but they were unable to do it in the latest update due to time constraints.
“We just didn’t have the time to do what we need to do to her tactical,” said the dev. “[In my opinion] the problem is you can jump in, take a full bat, and strafe while doing so making you almost impossible to punish. That’ll change, but the proper way to do that takes a little time.”
He made it clear that Horizon’s ultimate isn’t her biggest draw, but they were able to prepare the nerf in time for this patch.
“Her ult is definitely not the bigger problem. That was just the change that was ready for 8.1. Her tactical is absolutely the bigger problem, but the nerf for that wasn’t ready in time for this patch,” Klein added.
This means that we can expect more changes for Horizon in Season 9. It’s not clear what exactly these will be but we’ll keep checking for updates. Once we learn something new, we’ll be sure to let you know.
