Apex Legends developers Respawn Entertainment have acknowledged and addressed an alarming Anniversary Collection Event glitch that has been causing players to have their Heirloom Packs counter reset and losing guaranteed Heirloom Shards.

To celebrate the two-year anniversary of Apex Legends’ launch, developers Respawn Entertainment announced the Anniversary Collection Event – a momentous couple of weeks that would reward players with free rewards, special playlist options, and a lot more.

What the developers didn’t expect was this special event to trigger a glitch that is causing players to have their Heirloom Pack counter reset. By doing this, the 150 Heirloom Shard reward promised after reaching the fabled 500 pack mark would never actually be awarded.

Thankfully, Respawn Entertainment has quickly become aware of the issue in Apex Legends Season 8 and is already working to amend this situation.

In a Tweet directly from the official Respawn Entertainment account, they alerted players to the problem that many had been facing and confirmed that a fix was on the way.

The Tweet said: “Heads up: The @PlayApex Anniversary Collection Event heirloom pack had a bug. It unintentionally reset the “counter” that guarantees you get heirloom shards every 500 packs. Only people who opened the heirloom pack before 3pm PT on 2/10 were affected, as the bug was fixed.”

The thread continued below the post providing further clarification with regards to the situation. They comforted their players by assuring them that a hotfix was already being prepared, and that “If the bug prevented you from getting rewarded on your 500th pack, you’ll receive a pack containing heirloom shards.”

It’s a great gesture from Respawn, who also said they would be awarding 5 free Heirloom Packs to anyone that has been affected by the unfortunate bug.

There’s still no official word on when the fix is coming, but we can imagine that it will be very soon, and the free packs will be credited shortly after the fix goes live.
