Apex Legends Season 8 Anniversary Collection Event leaks.

Data miners have been searching for information about the Season 8 Collection Event titled ‘Anniversary,’ and now a new leak has surfaced and given us a look at some new skins and a change to Heirlooms.

Apex Legends Season 7 is nearing its end, and the developers are working on multiple future seasons at the same time. We’re eager to learn what we will be seeing when Season 8 goes live after a few months.

With Fight Night behind us, we expect a plethora of brand new cosmetics, bug fixes, buffs, nerfs, and quality-of-life updates in Season 8’s Anniversary Collection Event. Now, some new leaks have given us information about a major change to Heirlooms in the event.

Mirage's Trophy Heirloom

Apex Season 8 Anniversary collection event

This information came from reliable Apex Legends leaker Shrutgal, and it suggests that completing the collection at the Anniversary Collection Event will grant you 150 Heirloom Shards, to select a previously released Heirloom of your choice.

This is a major change from previous Collection Events, where a new Heirloom would be unveiled for a Legend. The leak implies that we might not be getting a new one in the cosmetic pool, which is a bit disappointing.

However, it’s nice that you’ll be able to pick whichever Heirloom you want for yourself by spending the required amount of Apex Coins/open enough packs to complete the collection. Plus, we may also get a new one alongside that.

Apex Legends Season 8 skins

Each new Apex Legends update introduces some brand new Legend and weapons skins to battle royale. The leaker suggested that most of the Legends will receive a recolor for the Anniversary Collection Event.

There will also be new colors for all the Iron Crown legendaries, except Wattson, during the first Season 8 event and have been codenamed “Eoswar.” Since the next season is still a little far away, many of the skins are untextured. However, you can see three of them in the leak.

It’s important to keep in mind that these have not been confirmed by Respawn Entertainment so far. The leaker is reliable with a history of being accurate, but it’s worth taking this information with a grain of salt until we hear something official.

That said, this is all exciting information if it’s true. The Anniversary event will bring a plethora of exciting new content, and you’ll have the chance to pick your own Heirloom for yourself. We’ll be sure to update you once we learn more.

Apex Legends devs may rework Crypto if his play rate gets worse

Apex Legends dev reveals hacker Crypto could be receiving a rework in Season 9 if his pick rate gets any worse.

Apex Legends Crypto rework

Crypto could be next in line to receive a rework for Season 9 after Apex Legends dev reveals they are watching his play rate closely.

Crypto is a very niche character in Apex Legends and it’s no surprise that his play rate may be lower than most of the other Legends.

Crypto was introduced in Season 3, along with World’s Edge after the hacker destroyed the beacon at Repulser on Kings Canyon. Crypto has a strong dislike towards the Syndicate, the group behind the Apex Games, joining the fight to get closer to the corrupt company.

Apex Legends Season 9 Crypto rework

His introduction was well received and even became a strong pick in Ranked Leagues, combining his ultimate Drone EMP with characters like Wraith and Octane to get in quickly after Crypto deals the shield damage.

During a podcast, live balance designer John Larson stated that Crypto had a low pick rate in Season 8, but a “healthy win rate,” putting him in an odd spot for a rework.

His pick rate is much lower than other Legends, sitting at 1.5% compared to fellow Survey Legend Bloodhound’s 14.3%, according to Apex legends Status.

Larson believes this is because of his Surveillance Drone, as it provokes a playstyle that many players aren’t necessarily too fond of. Most casual players want a character that keeps them in the fight and can be used aggressively, whereas Crypto is most useful when he is in the drone.

Unlike Bloodhound, for Crypto to be most effective he needs to be out of the fight, making him a tough character to master and also one that many players won’t have the motivation for.

Crypto is a character that once mastered, can be extremely useful, especially with good teammates who have the ability to take fights without a third always being there.

If Crypto’s play rate or win rate gets any lower, Larson revealed they will look into reworking him as a whole, much like Mirage and Lifeline.

Death Note and My Hero Academia hints found in new Apex Legends teaser

death note reference in Apex Legends

Apex Legends fans noticed some neat anime references within the new teaser dropped by Respawn, with images for My Hero Academia and Death Note, along with a few others.

Respawn Entertainment like to create hype among the Apex Legends community by sporadically releasing teasers that show off upcoming content. Now, a new one has caught the attention of fans because of its various easter eggs.

While Apex fans were initially just focusing on was the statue of a Valkyrie that has been connected to the upcoming Legend named Valk, a few eagle-eyed viewers were able to notice some hidden anime references as well.

Apex Legends roster

The new Apex Legends teaser image showcased a room on a spaceship which bares close resemblance to Wattson’s room, as revealed in a previous teaser. Looking closer at the stacked shelves on the right reveals various hints.

The shelf has Portion a Nessie toy, along with the Land of the Lustrous and My Hero Academia manga. If you look at the bottom of the shelf, you can also spot a stack of Death Note chapters next to the Valkyrie statue.

These are surprising additions that the developers deliberately left in the image, and now Apex fans are speculating how this will affect the future of the battle royale.

When Apex Legends released on the Nintendo Switch, Respawn Game Director, Chad Grenier stated the Season 9 character would appeal to Japanese players. These references could be a clue about the Legend’s interest in manga.

Respawn also released weapon charms and a limited-edition Pathfinder skin for Nintendo players, which lines up with Grenier’s promise to “deliver unique content to Japan” in Apex Legends. We might see more anime-themed content added later.

The image also contains a reference to thea Apex Predators from Titanfall on a piece of paper lying on the desk. With Season 9 on the horizon, we expect plenty more surprises to come in the next few months.

Apex Legends War Games: Everything there is to know about Ultra Zones

Apex Legends War Games event is well underway with the latest mode, Ultra Zones, taking inspiration from Season 6’s Flash Point LTM.

Apex Legends Ultrazones

Mad Maggie’s Apex Legends takeover continues with War Games Ultra Zones mode, a renewed version of the Season 6 LTM.

Ultra Zones is the newest mode in Apex Legends War Games mini-event and may be familiar to some players.

Since replacing Second Chance, Armour Regen saw a short-lived lifespan being replaced by Ultra Zones at 10am PST, April 14th. The new mode is a rework of the Season 6 LTM, Flashpoint, which received backlash after it came with a host of bugs and performance issues.

Apex Legends Ultrazones

How does Ultra Zones work?

The Ultra Zones War Games mode sees multiple hot zones over the map covered in a glowing blue dome. This means not only more gold and higher tier loot, but also the glowing Flash Points which replenish health and shields.

Instead of the hot zones only featuring one gold item, Maggie has decided to put one gold gun and one gold item in each Ultra Zone, meaning even more gold loot!

After a short period of time in an Ultra Zone, players will passively heal shield and health, making for a fun combat zone where players can sustain fights. Unlike the Season 6 LTM, Flashpoint, all healable items are available during this mode.

Similar to the Armor Regen mode, characters with lots of mobility like Octane and Horizon will make be great at dipping in and out of fights to let your health and shield regenerate.

This mode will be the longest-lasting out of all the modes included in the War Games mini-event, staying until 10 am PST on April 19th.
