After rumors, speculation, and leaks, Respawn Entertainment has finally provided fans with a look at the new Apex Legends character, Valkyrie, and her abilities.

During the recent gameplay trailer for Apex Legends Legacy, Respawn Entertainment began by showing off the new 3v3 mode, Arenas.

After however, Ash introduces the new Legend, Valkyrie, showing off her tactical and ultimate abilities on the new Arena maps and confirming some recent speculation regarding the teasers on Apex Legends Instagram.

Valkyrie tactical ability

It seems the leaks and rumors were true, and Valkyrie’s tactical ability will indeed be the cluster missiles, now known as the Missile Swarm. The trailer shows the animation for what seems to be missiles coming from her suit and raining down on the opponents.

The video shows how the tactical looks, including how players will be able to place it, as it seems there will be multiple red markers on the floor indicating where the missiles will land, which is in the pattern of a rectangle.

The rectangle is 3×4, showing that there will be a total of 12 missiles hitting the area Valkyrie selects. The missiles come in fast, but it does seem like there is a small window where the opponents can escape its area of damage, especially those with mobility like Octane and Horizon.

Valkyrie ultimate ability

Right after her tactical is shown, Valkyrie initiates her ultimate ability, which is believed to be called Skyward Dive.

This ultimate essentially allows Valkyrie and her team to rise and take to the skies, escaping dodgy situations almost like a portable redeploy balloon. However, from what we can see in the trailer, it does look as if it won’t take you as high or far as the redeploy balloons.

Regardless this ultimate will be extremely useful for rotation, getting to high ground as a team quickly and safely, and chasing down enemies who are getting away.

While Valkyrie is rising and the team is connecting to her to rise into the skies, Valkyrie’s option is to “turn off,” suggesting that there will be an opportunity for enemies to shoot her. Still, it can be canceled in time to prevent too much damage from being taken.

Lastly, the trailer shows how Horizon and Valkyrie can combine their abilities, using Horizon’s Black Hole ability to prevent enemies from escaping Valkyrie’s cluster.

Valkyrie Passive ability and role

Apex Legends writer @ggpedroperes also revealed on Twitter that Valkyrie will be a recon Legend, allowing her to scan beacons and intriguingly highlight enemies.

Valkyrie’s passive will be her VTOL Jets, which will allow her to take to the skies and hover around. More information has surfaced from various Apex Legends playtesters confirming that while using the Jets, Valkyrie will not shoot but may use her Missile Swarm.

Further, it seems her Jets will also be very loud, with players being able to hear them from quite far away. On top of this, however, Valkyrie will be a recon Legend. Her passive also allows her to highlight enemies in her sights when skydiving, a useful ability, especially for seeing where people are dropping from the Dropship.

Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy weapon tier list

Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy has brought with it a heap of changes in the patch notes, some of which have created a new Apex Legends weapon tier list.

apex legends legacy weapons

Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy is finally here. Just like any season, it has also brought a bunch of changes with the patch notes, including buffs and nerfs to the weapons that have allowed a new Apex Legends weapon tier list to emerge.

Apex Legends Legacy has seen players experience the new Arenas mode, Valkyrie, Infested Olympus, and the Bocek Bow. Although there have been many server issues since its release on May 4th, Season 9 has been a great success so far.

Prior to release, Respawn Entertainment released the Legacy patch notes where we got to see the nerfs and buffs for all the weapons, but now players have been able to get their hands on the new season, it is much easier to tell what ones are at the top.

Apex Legends Season 9 Legacy weapon tier list

As it’s a new season, we thought it would be helpful to compose a tier list for all the weapons in Legacy, as well as the best weapons in each class, so let’s jump into it.

The tier system:

  • S-Tier weapons are the best
  • A-Tier are amazing in their own right
  • B-Tier weapons are just missing something
  • C-Tier are weapons that players should avoid

Apex Legends Season 9 Legacy weapon tier list

  • S-Tier: Bocek Bow, Spitfire, Sentinel, R-301, Peacekeeper, Prowler, Kraber, Triple Take
  • A-Tier: Volt, Alternator, Flatline, G7 Scout, Wingman, Charge Rifle, Eva-8, L-Star
  • B-Tier: Hemlock, Havoc, Mastiff, Devotion, 30-30 Repeater, Longbow
  • C-Tier: Mozambique, P2020, RE-45

Best weapons in Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy

The proceeding list is the best weapons in the current Apex Legends meta for each class, excluding the care package weapons. The Triple Take, Kraber, and Prowler are all-powerful, but you won’t find them in most games, hence their exclusion.

Best LMG – Spitfire

Apex Legends Legacy weapons spitfire

Although the Spitfire received a slight nerf, increasing the recoil on the gun’s first few bullets, it’s still an absolute machine. Any weapon with over 30 bullets in the base magazine will be strong in Apex Legends, as not only is the damage and range good, but the best thing about the Spitfire is how long it can shoot for, especially with an extended mag.

This makes it the best of the LMGs, as although the L-Star and Devotion both have large magazine sizes, the damage, range, and recoil control on the Spitfire are far superior.

Best SMG – Volt

Apex Legends Legacy weapons volt

Since the R-99 received a nerf back in Season 8, the Volt has taken its place at the top of the SMGs, with the Alternator coming close in second. The Volt is a great close-ranged weapon, but it is the best SMG because of its ability to do damage at medium range.

Further, the recoil is very easy to control, especially with attachments, and the Volt works great with a 2x bruiser to make sure you’re hitting those shots.

The ability to gun someone down at both close and medium range, as well as great iron sights, is what makes the Volt the best SMG in Apex Legends Legacy.

Best AR – R-301

Apex Legends Legacy weapons r301

The R-301 is by far the most reliable weapon in Apex Legends Legacy and has been for a while now. Not only is the recoil extremely easy to control, but it also has long-range capabilities with the Anvil Receiver Hop-up, as well as close-range fire rate and hip-fire accuracy.

The R-301 is always a great weapon to pick up and allows you to be more experimental with your secondary, as you can use it as a closer or longer-ranged weapon.

Best Sniper – Sentinel

sentinel

Now that the Longbow has been nerfed with the removal of Skullpiercer and the Triple Take has become a care package weapon, the Sentinel is now the strongest sniper in the game.

Even without the shield cell charge up, which is very strong, the Sentinel performs well. Although it has a slow fire rate, it hits hard in the chest and especially the head.

Apart from the Kraber, the Sentinel has the greatest damage per bullet in the sniper category, usually dropping someone in 2 to 3 shots, and it’s even more efficient when it’s amped up with shield cells.

Best Marksman Rifle – Bocek Bow

bocek bow

The Bocek Bow is the latest addition to the weapons in Apex Legends, becoming part of the new category, Marksman Rifles.

Players have already discovered just how strong this weapon is, hitting huge damage with every arrow. One of the main reasons it’s so strong is because of how silent it is. Gaining an angle on someone and taking them out when they have no idea where you are feels very satisfying.

Further, it is also the only weapon in the game that takes two Hop-ups, Shatter Caps and Deadeyes Tempo, which are both very good. Shatter Caps converts the Bocek Bow into a shotgun, dealing damage up-close, while Deadeyes Tempo allows players to increase the fire rate upon successful pullbacks.

As well as the huge damage output, these are the reasons the Bocek Bow is arguable the strongest weapon in the game right now.

Best Shotgun – Peacekeeper

peacekeeper

After being replaced by the Triple Take as a care package weapon, the Peacekeeper finally returns to floor loot. The Peacekeeper feels just as good as it ever has, now with the Precision Choke built-in, making it a great choice for close and even medium range.

As the Mastiff received a big nerf last season, the Peacekeeper officially took its place as the strongest shotgun in the game.

Best Pistol – Wingman

wingman

This isn’t a tough decision, as the Wingman is only competing with the RE-45 and the P2020. However, the Wingman is still the hard-hitting powerhouse it has always been.

If you’re hitting your shots with this weapon, it’s extremely deadly and a great option as a secondary for anyone with a fast, rushing playstyle. Although it has a slight nerf with the removal of Skullpiercer, it’s still powerful and can still hold the Quickdraw Hop-up, allowing for a fast ADS.

This Clever trick makes Valkyrie fly longer in Apex Legends

There is a clever Apex Legends tactic that you can use to make the new Legend Valkyrie fly for longer during battle.

How to fly longer as Valkyrie

The new Legend Valkyrie is one of the many additions in the Apex Legends Season 9, Legacy update, and there’s a clever trick that you can use to make her soar through the sky for longer than usual.

Apex Legends Legacy brought a ton of new additions for fans to enjoy, including the 3v3 Arenas modenew weapons, a fresh Battle Pass, and of course, a new Legend named Valkyrie

This character brings a certain verticality to the battle royale with her ability to soar through the air for a short period of time. Now, a few players have found a way to use her jetpacks to stay in the air for a longer duration.

Valkyrie's VTOL jets

How to make Valkyrie fly for longer in Apex Legends

This trick was discovered by Reddit user Swogglenoz, who was experimenting with Valkyrie’s jetpacks. Through this, they were able to come up with a way to make her fly much further and longer than normal.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Use Valkyrie’s jetpacks to take off into the sky.
  2. Hold her tactical down while you’re in the air to fly for longer.
  3. Once you’re ready to land, use the melee attack to bring her down.

Using the melee attack will cancel out her deploying the rocket burst tactical, allowing you to land safely. However, you’ll be flying fairly slow, which could leave you vulnerable to enemy attacks.

While some players initially assumed that this might be an exploit, the Apex Legends devs made it clear that this is an intentional tactic. While Valkyrie’s slow speed might come off as useless, this trick is ideal for sneaking up on players.

Valkyrie’s VTOL Jets only allow her to hover across the map within a set amount of fuel, so you’ll need to use this tactic carefully. We recommend saving it for late-game scenarios where it’s easier to be stealthy.

If you want some useful tips and tricks for playing as Valkyrie that will make you into a winged menace on your way to victory, then you can check out or guide for them.

Apex Legends: Best Legends for the Arenas

With the new Arenas mode, Apex Legends is being played in a different way making some Legends more useful than others in Season 9.

Published

Apex Legends Arenas

Apex Legends’ new 3v3 Arenas mode is very different from the classic battle royale formula, leaving some players unsure about what Legends would be the best to use. Some Legends are much more useful than others in this mode, so we’ve made a guide to help shed light on them.

Apex Legends’ latest season saw a heap of content introduced to the players. Some of this content was expected, like a new Legend, weapon, and map changes, but some of it came as more of a surprise.

The new 3v3 Arenas mode is a completely new experience for Apex Legends fans, introducing a CSGO/Valorant-esque round-based duel between two teams.

Apex Legends Arenas

Best Legends to use for the Arenas

As the mode is so different from the battle royale, some of the Legends are essential for this mode and can help you and your team reach consecutive victories.

In Arenas, players will have to spend credits in order to purchase weapons, consumables, and even abilities. However, every Legend gets their passive for no extra cost, making some much more viable than others.

If you’re unsure about how you want to spend your crafting materials/credits, check out our guide on the best ways to spend them.

Lifeline in Apex Legends: Arenas

apex legends arenas lifeline

Lifeline is a great option for Arenas and is possibly the most essential Legend for team composition. Lifeline’s abilities aid the team by keeping them alive for as long as possible, and as Arenas can be a war of attrition, Lifeline’s tactical health drone can be essential.

Further, Lifeline’s passive is her D.O.C drone revive, which allows her to revive enemies while staying in the fight. Although this passive was nerfed in the latest patch, removing the protective shield, it is still very strong.

The main reason it’s so strong is because of the Legendary bag players can purchase for only 250 crafting credits. Lifeline with this item can really be a menace, reviving her teammates effortlessly with half health and shields, allowing them to get back into the fight instantly.

Although Lifeline’s ultimate isn’t as useful, her tactical health drone and revive make her one of the most essential Legends for taking the victory in Arenas.

Valkyrie in Arenas

apex legends arenas valkyrie

Valkyrie is another great pick for Arenas, mostly because her main ability and best asset is free. Valkyrie is a great attacking option for the team, gaining different angles on the opposition to make them uncomfortable and offset their position.

The reason Valkyrie is one of the best Legends for Arenas is because of her passive VTOL Jets. Valkyrie’s passive will recharge throughout the game, allowing players to gain height and reposition at any point of a round.

Valkyrie’s tactical, Missile Swarm, will also allow Valkyrie to push enemies out of their position. At this point, Valkyrie can then use her jets to take their position, leaving the opponents at a disadvantage.

Further, Valkyrie’s ultimate, Skyward Dive, is only 150 credits which isn’t expensive, especially in the later rounds. Purchase this ability to take you and your team straight to where the enemies want to be, take over their position and leave them in the dust.

Gibraltar in Arenas

apex legends arenas gibratar

Lastly we have Gibraltar, an extremely useful Legend in the Arenas mostly for his 1v1 capabilities. Gibraltar acts as the anchor for a team, holding down positions taking out enemies who overextend.

Not only is Gibraltar a good option because of his Dome of Protection, which also provides teams with a faster revive option, but his passive can greatly increase his chances of winning 1v1s. In Arenas, you will often find yourself in a 1v1 situation where Gibraltar’s passive gun shield can be really dominant.

The gun shield gives Gibraltar added health, making him a nuisance from range, as he can continue to do damage to the enemies while they are only hitting the gun shield, allowing Gibraltar to save his meds.

Gibraltar’s extra passive, Fortress, which reduces incoming damage by 15%, makes him even more of an essential character for Arenas, as he can easily tank damage and win those isolated fights.
