Apex Legends Legacy skins, skybox changes, & Ranked Arenas

The latest Apex Legends Legacy trailer revealed more than players expected, with further details on new skins, skybox changes, and ranked Arenas.

Apex Legends Legacy skins

The Apex Legends community has discovered some interesting details from the latest Legacy gameplay trailer, such as upcoming skins, skybox changes, and some new information on the Arena mode.

Apart from revealing how the Arena will work, the new Legend Valkyrie, and smaller details like the Airdrop changes, further information has been discovered surrounding the skybox changes and when we can expect a ranked playlist for the Arena.

During the latest gameplay trailer, many in the community also pointed out the unreleased skins shown. Although players are used to seeing battle pass skins in the upcoming season trailers, perhaps these skins are actually associated with the new Arena mode.

Apex Legends Legacy skybox changes

Popular Apex Legends dataminer @Garretleaks recently put a video out on YouTube showcasing many hidden details in the gameplay trailer.

One of these details Garret noticed was the change in the skybox for both World’s Edge and Olympus, making a change in lighting for both maps.

This is not the first time we have seen a skybox and lighting change in a map for Apex Legends, as Season 8’s Kings Canyon also saw a change from the original skybox and lighting.

In the trailer, a short clip is shown of Thermal Station on World’s Edge, which presents a much lighter, clear blue sky. World’s Edge previously had a clouded, stormy sky, but it seems the weather will be clearing up on planet Talos.

Towards the end of the trailer, where Valkyrie is introduced, we see a clip of her dangling off the side of the Hammond Labs chimney, presenting a new skybox.

Olympus was previously a bright, blue, cloudy day sky. However, this new trailer seems to show off a more starry evening sky, getting darker and darker as you reach the middle. The sky is full of stars, and although it isn’t as blue as before, the sides of the sky remain cloudy and light blue, while the center gains a new spacey feel to it.

Ranked Arenas

During the past few weeks, with all the leaks and rumors surrounding the Arena, there was also potential for the new 3v3 mode to have a ranked playlist, according to some dataminers who found hints in the code.

Respawn has now confirmed this. However, a date for its arrival is yet to be decided. Respawn Entertainment told The Loadout during a press briefing that Arena’s will have a ranked playlist, but it will be coming in a later update.

Although some may be disappointed, this is probably the best way to introduce the new mode, as at the end of the day, it also took a while for the battle royale to get Ranked Leagues in the first place.

Without a ranked playlist, it will allow everyone to get to know the mode properly, have some fun with it, and fully understand it before getting into competitive games.

Apex Legends Legacy skins

Lastly, the new gameplay trailer showed off a heap of new skins coming into the game during the Legacy season. However, these are believed to be Arena exclusive skins and not from the upcoming battle pass.

The trailer showed off new skins for Octane, Wraith, Rampart, and more, with Octane’s yellow and black cat skin receiving the most attention.

Rampart’s skin also looks like it will suit nicely with the Bocek Bow’s legendary skin, as they both feature a similar look with white and orange accents.

Since the trailer, many in the community were quick to point out that these skins will most likely be gained from the Arena, completing challenges to unlock them.

However, we did get to see the level 100 battle pass Devotion skin that will be coming in the Legacy update and Valkyrie’s bundle skin that will all arrive May 4th when Legacy drops.

How to do Valkyrie’s portal trap in Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy

Apex Legends’ Valkyrie has more to her play than expected, as players find an alternative use for her ultimate in the form of a trap.

apex legends valkyrie portal trap

Apex Legends players have found an extremely amusing trap with new Legend Valkyrie in Season 9: Legacy.

Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy has seen a lot of new content come to the game. Most notably, Arenas and Valkyrie, who players are still learning the extent to which you can utilize her abilities.

It seems some players have taken it upon themselves to find out if you can combine Valkyrie’s ultimate ability, Skyward Drive, with some of the other Legends.

Apex Legends Valkyrie portal trap

Players have found that they can combine Valkyrie’s Skyward Dive, which is essentially a portable redeploy balloon, along with other Legend’s abilities to maximize potential.

One great example of this is Valkyrie and Revenant. We’re sure you’ve heard of Revenant and Octane combining their ultimate abilities to essentially push a team and third-party fights without worrying about positioning or elimination.

This was considered very powerful in Season 8, as teams would use Revenants Death Totem and Octane’s Launch Pad to traverse huge distances and save time while in shadow form.

However, soon after Valkyrie’s launch, players found they could perform a similar routine with the Skyward Dive instead of the Launch Pad, which effectively took the team in shadow form across huge distances.

One combination some players found success with is Wraith, combining her Dimensional Rift/Portal ultimate with Valkyrie’s Skyward Dive to trap unsuspecting enemies.

The trap is simple:

  • Activate Valkyrie’s Skyward Dive
  • Wait for Wraith to activate Dimensional Rift and join the Dive
  • Valkyrie will then launch and fly over a hazardous part of the map
  • While over this part of the map, Wraith will end her portal leaving anyone who takes it doomed

Although this trap is best for Olympus due to the many gaps and holes in the floating city, this can also be done off the side of any map or even into the lava in World’s Edge.

There is so much potential with this trap, as you can also pull it off without dropping enemies off the map.

Say you have a Wattson, Caustic, or Rampart set up, and you place a portal directly above where these characters have placed traps. Unsuspecting enemies will take the portal and land in a very stick situation.

That’s all for this cool Valkyrie and Wraith portal trap. For more on Apex Legends, keep it locked on Charlie INTEL, and check out our article on the average K/D ratio for Apex Legends.

What is the average K/D ratio for Apex Legends?

Interested in finding out the Apex Legends average KD and how it compares to others? Let’s look at the benchmark and see where you stand.

apex legends average kd

Curious to see how your Apex Legends stats stack up compared to others? Or maybe you just want to find out if your KD is above or below the average. Let’s find out by looking at the Apex Legends average KD.

How many times have you hesitated when someone has asked what your KD ratio is on Apex Legends because you’re unsure what the average is and whether yours is good or bad.

Whether it’s the guns you’re using, or the Legend, here at Charlie INTEL, we don’t judge. However, we can show you what an average KD looks like in Apex Legends to ease your mind or make you work harder to achieve better.

Apex Legends average KD

Apex Legends average KD

KD, or kill to death ratio, has always been a big part of measuring skill in multiplayer FPS games. However, due to the recent obsession with battle royales, SBMM, and the addition of Ranked Leagues, KDs have become more inconspicuous and really depend on what type of lobbies you’re playing in.

The general consensus is that any KD just above or below 1.0 is considered an average KD on Apex Legends. This means that for every death you have, you will have at least secured one kill.

If your KD is lower than 1.0 and looks more like 0.80 or lower, this would be considered below average as you are dying more than you are killing. To increase your KD back up more towards the average, you will need to start killing more people before you are eliminated.

If your KD happens to be above 1.0 and looks more like 1.5 or higher, this would be considered above average in Apex Legends as you will be killing more than one person every game before dying.

How to check your KD

You can check your lifetime battle royale KD by pressing your username above the Legend on the lobby screen. This will take you to a page full of your player stats. In th middle will be your lifetime stats, and the right will be your current season stats.

Players can also see stats via each season or even ranked by pressing the title above the stats on the right side, giving you an option to select any season you would like to see your personal stats in.

Alternatively, you can also use websites like Apex Legends Tracker to see your KD and any other stat you might be interested in finding out, including your recent performances.

That’s it for average KDs on Apex Legends. For more, stay tuned on Charlie INTEL and check out our article on ranked Arenas.
