Valkyrie hasn’t been out for long, but players are already finding great ways to use her abilities, so we compiled a guide. Valkyrie is a great addition to the Apex Legends roster, adding a new dimension to the game.
As well as Arenas, Apex Legends Legacy also introduced a new weapon, a fresh Battle Pass, and of course, a new Legend. Valkyrie is a great addition to the game, adding a certain verticality to the game, but her abilities can be somewhat difficult to master.
Although Valkyrie has only been out for a short period of time, players are already discovering the best situations to use her abilities in. Valkyrie’s abilities can be useful in many different ways, so let’s get into the guide.
How to unlock Valkyrie in Apex Legends
Valkyrie can be unlocked right now in the Legends section of the lobby menu. You can either purchase her with Legend Tokens, which are passively earned through playing the game, or Apex Coins, which is the Apex Legends currency that players can purchase with real money.
- 12,000 Legend Tokens
- 750 Apex Coins
Apex Legends Valkyrie guide: VTOL Jets
Valkyrie’s passive is by far the most attractive and exciting thing about her kit. The VTOL Jets allow her to take to the skies, hovering with a set amount of fuel to gain an advantage on the enemy.
Although the jets are very advantageous, they can also lead to a players elimination if not used correctly.
VTOL Jets tips & tricks
- You can change the VTOL Jets from Toggle to Hold in the settings, which makes it much easier to control. This allows for a bunny hop-type of movement to gain speed by turning the jets on and off.
- The VTOL Jets can boost you in any direction you are facing, allowing Valkyrie to quickly turn corners or do a fast 180, this is great for dodging bullets and evading enemies.
- Try not to use her VTOL Jets too much, as they run out fairly quickly and are also very loud, try using them to gain an advantage over enemies rather than for convenience.
- You can be very crafty with the Jets, for example, you can fake out opponents by dropping off an edge and flying straight back up behind them.
Valkyrie’s Tactical Ability: Missile Swarm
Valkyrie’s tactical is a swarm of missiles that damages and causes stun on the enemy much like an Arc Star.
The Missile Swarm is surprisingly strong, although it only does 28 max damage, it can still be very useful as it stuns enemies on hit. The Missile Swarm has a 30-second cooldown, which is fairly long for a Legend’s tactical.
Missile Swarm tips & tricks
- Think of the Missile Swarm as more of a stun that can lead to a push, rather than trying to use it to do damage.
- Valkyrie’s tactical is extremely useful for getting opponents out of cover, especially when they retreat to heal up.
- Combo Valkyrie’s Missile Swarm with the VTOL Jets, as it allows her to stay in the air longer and get a better angle for placing the tactical.
- Try saving her tactical for the right situation, as it isn’t very hard for players to escape before it actually hits. Using it when the opponent isn’t aware of your position, or is distracted is the best time to release the Missiles.
Valkyrie’s Ultimate Ability: Skyward Dive
Skyward Dive is a useful rotation tool that can be used both offensively, and defensively. Valkyrie’s Ultimate allows her and the team to rise up and redeploy much like a redeploy balloon.
Although it takes a while to charge up, and the initiation animation takes a few seconds, leaving you open if used in the right way it can be very powerful.
Skyward Dive tips & tricks
- Valkyrie can scan enemies while skydiving, which can be utilized with her ultimate, gaining knowledge on a push, or while escaping to know exactly where enemies are.
- The time it takes to initiate the launch can leave you open to enemy fire, so try activating it behind some cover or even a Gibraltar Dome of Protection.
- Save Valkyrie’s ultimate for dire situations rather than using it for convenience, use it to rotate and get to a better position before the enemies do.
That’s all for Valkyrie’s abilities, hopefully, they will help you become a winged menace and lead you to victory. If you like this guide and want to check out more Apex Legends content, keep it locked on Charlie INTEL and check out our article on the best way to spend crafting credits in Arenas.

Who is the most popular Apex Legends character? Season 10 pick rates
Apex Legends Season 10 is well into its stride, but who has dominated the pick rates for Season 10 of Respawn’s battle royale?
Season 10 is one of Apex Legends’ biggest ever seasons, and it’s welcomed the popular character Seer. But who has the highest pick rates in Season 10 of Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale shooter?
Apex Legends hit the ground running when it launched with eight different characters to choose from in its rival battle royale offering. The game suffered a notable lull when Call of Duty: Warzone launched, but with many players now jumping ship to Respawn’s game, Apex Legends Season 10 is arguably its biggest ever!
There are now a whopping 18 different Legends to choose from, giving players a headache before each game. The newest one is Seer, and after a dominating start to Season 10, the 1.78 update has seen him receive a significant nerf. This has completely changed the game’s pick rates and made the Season 10 meta open again.
Between the Arenas mode and Ranked Leagues to compete in, thousands of matches have already been logged in Season 10, and we will break down and find the Legends with the highest pick rates in Season 10.
Apex Legends Season 10 pick rate ranked list
This is our complete list of every character pick in Apex Legends, and we’ve ranked them in ascending order to let you know which are favored more.
Here is every Apex Legends pick rate in Season 10 ranked, as of September 17, 2021, according to Apex Legends Status:
- Octane – 14.5%
- Wraith – 11.4%
- Pathfinder – 10%
- Bloodhound – 8.9%
- Lifeline – 8%
- Rampart – 7.1%
- Bangalore – 4.9%
- Seer – 4.7%
- Valkyrie – 4.6%
- Horizon – 4.2%
- Loba – 3.8%
- Fuse – 3.6%
- Caustic – 3.1%
- Mirage – 3%
- Revenant – 2.7%
- Gibraltar – 2.6%
- Wattson – 1.5%
- Crypto – 1.5%
Best Apex Legends pick rates in Season 10
5. Lifeline – 8%
Just clocking in at the number five spot is Lifeline. Everyone’s favorite healer takes up 8% of the Apex Legends’ picks, and for good reason too.
One of the big things that separates Apex Legends from other battle royale games is its lenience towards reviving – specifically Knockdown Shields. It provides lots of time to revive teammates and Lifeline can take advantage of this.
Her Drone of Compassion (or D.O.C) abilities can heal players over time and even revive them without needing Lifeline to do it. Her Care Package Ultimate is a bit weak, but overall, she is a great addition to any team.
4. Bloodhound – 8.9%
Again, with the influx of new Apex Legends players, Bloodhound is a great character to use for new players in Season 10.

With nearly a 12% pick rate at the beginning of Season 9, Bloodhound has dipped a bit to 8.9% but still remains the third-most picked Legend. Their pick rate is rising slowly thanks to the alterations to Seer, meaning that Bloodhound is the top Recon class to use in Apex Legends.
Their tracking tools and skills are incredible, and the fleet of foot provided by their Beast of the Hunt Ultimate is priceless.
4. Pathfinder – 10%
A beneficiary of the Seer nerfs, Pathfinder has become a part of Apex Legends’ top five picks at 10% and counting.
As a Recon class, Pathfinder simply excels in movements and traversing the game’s various maps. His Grappling Hook and Zipline Gun are simply invaluable assets that will help any team in a pinch – either because of the circle or a third-party situation.
2. Wraith – 11.4%
Another starting legend, Wraith possessed a very high pick rate of nearly 14% during Season 9 and is still currently well-selected backed at 11.4%.
Wraith’s stand-out features are her ability to get out of trouble very quickly – teammates included. Her abilities allow her to sense danger, become temporarily invulnerable, and create portals to escape predicaments. It’s easy to see why Wraith continues to be an absolute fan-favorite in Apex Legends Season 10.
1. Octane – 14.5%
The king is back on his throne as the game’s number one pick. Although his pick rate isn’t quite in the 20% region like in Season 9, his still undisputedly the primary selection, and rising, at 14.5%.
Aside from his amusing quips, he is the perfect balance of offense and defense. Despite being regarded as an offensive Legend, Octane can greatly increase his sprint speed which is useful for both attack and running away. But most Octane users thrive on his Launch Pad Ultimate which can send him, and friendly players, high up into the air.
You can use this to sneak attack players, reach high-up spots for beacons, escape battles, or use it as a way to get back into the playing zone.
That covers all the picks in Apex Legends Season 10. As always, buffs and nerfs will come and go throughout the season, affecting the game’s meta, and subsequently, Legend pick rates.
We’ll be sure to keep this updated regularly so you can stay on top of the in picks, and don’t forget to check out our tier list of every Apex Legends weapon. Also, read about the potential incomings in Apex Legends Season 11.

Apex Legends leak reveals first images of new Tropical Island map
New Apex Legends leaks have revealed screenshots for the rumored Tropical Island map set to release in Season 11.
A recent leak for Apex Legends in Season 10 has presented the community with beautiful images of a rumored Tropical Island map that could release as early as next season.
Apex Legends has had a few interesting leaks over the past week thanks to the Evolution Collection Event update that introduced new code for dataminers to dig around and expose.
As well as a 3D model for Wattson’s Heirloom, leakers have also revealed further details about the rumored Tropical Island map that we could be seeing very soon, including the new Legend to go with it and some colorful images.
The rumor surrounding a Tropical Island map has been floating around for some time now, with dataminers suggesting it will be released in Season 11. At the time of this post, Respawn Entertainment hasn’t revealed anything about a new map, but as the source of these images is possibly from an “inside leak,” there is a high possibility of them being credible.
The last map that was introduced in Apex Legends was Olympus in Season 7 when the Legend Horizon was also released. Now, in Season 10, there is even a new teaser on Olympus hinting at the new map.
Although there are only three images, each of them provides great details about what players can expect with this new map, from wildlife to the general terrain and theme of the map.
Leaked Apex Legends Tropical Island map images
The first image actually gives us a great idea of the wildlife on this map, as a Prowler can be seen in the middle of the image, as well as a mud mound which Thordon Smash says is a Prowler nest.
Further, users in the comments are suspecting that the building on the right of the image looks like some sort of animal enclosure.
Perhaps this is where the Prowlers are being kept, potentially relocated here after the disturbance of World’s Edge which was teased in the most recent Evolution Collection Event trailer when Bloodhound finds bloody Prowler tracks.
Another leaked image shows an expansive sea and beachy coastline with palm trees, which is most likely the edge of the map.
One thing this image does confirm is that the map will be a tropical island surrounded by water. The image also shows off a storm in the skybox, which could be important for the map’s lore and story.
Further, we already know Tridents will be available on the map due to previous leaks of a muddy texture for the vehicle, and this would make sense considering Tridents could be the best form of travel over the water.
Lastly, the second image in the set of three shows off a portion of the map layout, which doesn’t give much away apart from that Water will play a huge role when it comes to breaking the map up.
It seems water will run through the map and play a consistent role within the landscape, perhaps being an inconvenience that players will have to get around.
That’s all the details we can gain from these leaked images of the new Tropical Island map. For more, be sure to check out our article on how to get modded weapons in Season 10.

Apex Legends update nerfs Wattson Ultimate Ability in Season 10
The Apex Legends Season 10 Evolution Collection Event appears to have nerfed Wattson’s Ultimate Ability, reducing its effectiveness.
Apex Legends’ Evolution Collection Event seems to have had an adverse effect on Wattson as the new update appears to have nerfed her Ultimate, making it unable to destroy projectiles properly.
New Collection Events are always fun in Apex Legends as they welcome a new Heirloom, and can even have a character completely takeover a town.
Though, one Legend change seems to be inadvertent as Wattson’s Ultimate Ability is now virtually ineffective compared to its former state.
The problem was noticed and brought up by Twitter user @lilakeyLK, a self-proclaimed fan of Wattson, they inevitably noticed the problem very quickly.
“Huge bug/Nerf for Wattson in the latest patch. Pylon does NOT currently destroy grenades properly, and it does NOT block ordinance within the inner radius a majority of the time,” said lilakeyLK.
In normal circumstances, Wattson’s Pylon comes with several advantages: repairing damaged shields, speeding up Wattson’s tactical recharge rate, and eliminating inbound ordinance.
As the clip in the Tweet showed, the Pylon seems to be unable to detect the presence of thrown explosives and other throwable equipment.
Even though Wattson has one of the lower pick rates in Apex Legends Season 10, players who main her will be frustrated that her Ultimate has been unexpectedly nerfed.
However, given the unusual change, we fully expect Respawn Entertainment to be on the case and will surely be prepping a fix for the game.
