Trick to easily wall run in Apex Legends

While Respawn have said that they won’t add wall running to Apex Legends, one player has discovered a technique that uses Octane’s Jump Pad to easily get the job done, and also grants you super speed.

Wall running was one of the most popular mechanics in Titanfall 2, and fans have been asking Respawn to bring the feature to Apex Legends for a while. Despite this, the developers explained that they don’t plan to implement it anytime soon.

However, it’s still possible to traverse the map without having your feet touch the ground, and one new method has been discovered that allows you to run along the walls with great speed. All you need is a bit of practice, and Octane’s Jump Pad.

How to wall run at super speed in Apex Legends

Octane’s Jump Pad makes the Legend a popular pick, since it gives him added mobility and verticality. You can pick him if you need to quickly travel across the map, or get yourself away from an overwhelming number of enemies.

Reddit user treereee posted a clip in the Apexrollouts subreddit, in which they showed how you can successfully wall run with the Jump Pad. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Place the Jump Pad close to the base of a perpendicular wall.
  2. Jump off the pad and hold the right or left strafe key (A or D on PC).
  3. Once you’ve successfully stuck to the wall, start moving sideways in order to wall run.

The player also stated: “Do not hold W (forward) whatsoever, just hold sideways, you can go around the entire wall just holding the sideways input.” They also made it clear that holding down crouch the entire time will let you slide off at the very end.

You will face trouble when attempting to do this against slanted walls, so make sure you only try it with surfaces that go straight up and down. You’ll also move significantly faster, which makes it harder for your opponents to hit you.

Mastering this technique can give you a major advantage in the battle royale, which is why many Reddit users are convinced that the devs might get rid of it in a future update patch. However, it’s likely that they don’t even know about it yet.

Next time you decide to jump into Apex Legends, be sure to give this trick a try when playing as Octane. You’ll probably have to practice it a little before you can get it right, but it’ll be worth it to get the drop on your enemies.

Apex Legends update 1.82 patch notes: Pathfinder cooldown & Crypto fix

Respawn has released a new 1.82 update for Apex Legends players and we have all the details concerning the latest patch notes.

Bloodhound in Apex Legends

The Apex Legends Patch 1.82 update has arrived and it has brought some much-needed fixes for some major bugs, including Crypto’s drone crashing the game and Pathfinder’s broken cooldown.

Respawn Entertainment are always fixing bugs and glitches in Apex Legends, and Season 10 has already gone through multiple updates, including the 1.771.78, and 1.79 update patches.

All of these brought fixes for some of the major bugs in Apex Legends, and now the v1.82 update will be focusing on issues like Crypto’s broken drone and Pathfinder’s 30-second cooldown in Arenas.

Apex Legends patch 1.82 Pathfinder cooldown and Crypto fix

Apex Legends Crypto Character

One of the major fixes in this Apex Legends update went to Pathfinder. This character kept facing a constant 30-second grapple cooldown in Arenas, regardless of the distance at which it’s used.

The developers have addressed that issue and also brought a fix for Crypto. This Legend’s drone kept crashing games when players flew it into the map room on King’s Canyon.

Since Crypto is one of the Legends with the lowest pickrate, it’s vital to make sure that he doesn’t have any game-breaking bugs and glitches that will drive away players from choosing him.

The developers also implemented fixes for smaller quality-of-life problems, like animated banners crashing the game, and the Dropship that revives dead players having no audio while it was overhead.

Here are all the fixes in the Apex Legends 1.82 patch notes:

  • We’ve resolved an issue that caused players to be randomly unreadied while matchmaking in Ranked
  • Fixed a couple of issues that were causing animated banner poses to cause hangs or crashes
  • Improved protection against DDoS attacks
  • Fixed audio and rendering issues with respawn ships
  • Fixed an issue with using Crypto’s drone in the Map Room
  • Fixed an issue with Pathfinder having a constant 30s grapple cooldown regardless of distance in Arenas
  • Pathfinder Beacons Scanned tracker now updates correctly
  • Fixed melee and spin-up exploits related to mobile Sheila
  • The raven in Bloodhound’s Niflheim Hundr skin will now correctly show as white in the lobby
  • Stability fixes  and memory optimizations

While some of these may initially seem less important than others, the developers need to ensure that the battle royale title is functioning properly before Season 11 goes live in November.

Apex Legends player discovers Valkyrie trick to reduce rocket cooldown

One Apex Legends player has a discovered a trick to reduce the cooldown time of Valkyrie’s rocket tactical attack.

Valkyrie firing rockets in Apex Legends

Valkyrie is a Legend that is capable of blowing up her opponents with rockets, and one Apex Legends player has discovered a trick that lets them spam her tactical attack.

There are various powerful characters that you can play as in Apex Legends, and all of them have their unique abilities.

Valkyrie was added in Season 9, and she has become popular because of her flying abilities and tactical attack.

Valkyrie can blow up her enemies with rockets, and this attack comes with a 30 second cooldown. However, a few players have found a trick that brings down her cooldown to 6 seconds in Season 10.

Valkyrie's VTOL jets

Reddit user Particular_Mind7785 shared a trick to let players fire rockets more frequently as Valkyrie with the help of some new technology known as the Ultimate Accelerant.

Since Valkyrie’s Tactical cooldown is based on the number of rockets fired at a target, using an Ultimate Accentlant immediately after the ability will bring the cooldown time down to 6 seconds.

While this means that you’ll fire fewer rockets, they will still dish out a similar amount of damage and you’ll be able to fire them more frequently.

A few players noted that this same trick can be replicated with healing items as well. “Works with heals too. Saw a post a while ago. If you time it right you can fire a single rocket with a 2 sec cooldown,” wrote one user.

This trick reduces the radius of the rockets, so you won’t be able to cover a larger area with them.

However, this can still come in handy when fighting a small number of opponents in one spot and help you to break their ranks and split them up as a team to make eliminating enemies much easier.

Having the most optimal settings on your PC can really make a huge difference when you’re trying to improve your game on Apex Legends. With that being said, here are the best PC Settings for Apex Legends.

Perhaps you have been enjoying Apex Legends for some time now, or maybe you have been influenced by seeing some big streamers like NICKMERCS give the game a go in Season 10.

If so, you may be looking to get better at the game, and one thing that’s important in all competitive first-person shooters is a high FPS.

Professional Apex players and streamers spend thousands of dollars building PCs to give them the best performance. Using the optimal settings for your rig, you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars upgrading to get a decent FPS.

A high FPS means that the game runs and feels smoother. Not only will the game feel better to play, but your reaction time will be improved, and moving enemies will be easier to hit, so using the best Apex Legends settings for High FPS is worth trying out.

Luckily, those on consoles can enjoy a steady 60 FPS on next-gen consoles, with 120 FPS support in the works. However, higher frame rates are much more flexible for those on PC and can even give you the edge over your enemies when using the best Apex Legends settings for high FPS.

PC requirements

It doesn’t take much to run Apex Legends smoothly on your PC, especially with the proper settings.

Get uncapped FPS without enabling V-Sync in Apex Legends

Although most of the streamers you see will have FPS well into the hundreds, you should shoot for at least 60 as this will provide a stable Apex Legends experience with minimal frame drops.

  1. Open Origin or Steam.
  2. Right-click Apex Legends in your Game Library and right-click on Apex Legends.
  3. Select ‘Game Properties’ on Origin or choose ‘Properties’ on Steam
  4. Head to ‘Game Properties’.
  5. Visit the Advanced Launch Options on Origin or the General tab on Steam
  6. Type “+fps_max unlimited” under Command line arguments (Origin) or Launch Options (Steam).

Best Apex Legends graphics settings for low-end hardware

The easiest way to get higher FPS is to turn everything to the lowest possible quality settings, but targeting enemies is more obscure.

  • Display Mode – Full Screen
  • Aspect Ratio – Native monitor resolution (probably 16:9, 1080p)
  • Resolution – Native monitor resolution.
  • Field of View – Personal preference
  • Color Blind Mode – Personal preference
  • V-Sync – Disabled
  • Adaptive Resolution FPS Target – Set to 0
  • Adaptive Supersampling – Greyed out
  • Anti-Aliasing – Off
  • Texture Streaming Budget – Medium or lower
  • Texture Filtering – Anisotropic 2X
  • Ambient Occlusion Quality – Medium or lower
  • Sun Shadow Coverage – Low
  • Sun Shadow Detail – Low
  • Spot Shadow Detail – Low
  • Volumetric Lighting – Disabled
  • Dynamic Spot Shadows – Disabled
  • Model Detail – Medium or lower
  • Effects Detail – Medium or lower
  • Impact Marks – Medium or lower
  • Ragdolls – Medium or lower

Some settings will significantly affect your game’s FPS more than others, such as Ambient Occlusion Quality. Many of these will depend on the power of your rig, graphics card, and VRAM.

While setting everything to low/disabled (except V-Sync) is best for frames in Apex Legends, you can probably set some of these to “medium” if your rig is powerful enough.

Optimize your Discord

Discord is commonly used by Apex Legends to communicate with their teammates in the middle of a match. While it works great, you can further optimize it to improve the FPS on Apex. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Open Discord.
  2. Head to the Settings menu
  3. Click the Overlay tab and ensure ‘Enable in-game overlay’ is unchecked

You can also turn off Hardware Acceleration, which’s at the bottom of the Appearance tab. This will keep Discord from using your graphics card to accelerate the software’s speed and grant you a few more FPS in-game.
