Apex Legends players discover secret Octane buff
There had been a ton of speculation regarding a possible buff to Octane’s health recharge in Apex Legends, and players have now confirmed that it’s real, despite the developers not announcing it.
Playing as Octane can have its advantages when you jump into a match of Apex Legends, as the daredevil is able to quickly maneuver around during combat. He’s so powerful that the devs gave balance updates to him.
One of these changes was to his stim ability, doubling the healing rate from 0.5 HP per second to 1 HP per second. However, several players have noticed that Octane heals much quicker than that in battle.
Reddit user guntassingh26 was testing out Octane’s healing capabilities in Apex Legends and discovered that the character regains health at around 1.5 HP per second.
The Chaos Theory patch notes listed it as 1 HP per second, but this cast doubts among players who tried out the Legend’s abilities in the field. Now, this new post in the Apex Legends subreddit confirms the theory.
Many were left wondering if Octane received a secret buff that the devs never mentioned, and set out to get answers.
Respawn issued changes to Octane’s stim ability a few months back, so this discovery caused players to seek out answers. Perhaps this is something the devs didn’t notice, and bringing it to their attention will make them nerf the Legend.
At the time of writing, it’s unclear whether or not Respawn plan to address this. They might try clearing up what his recharge rate is actually supposed to be or make further changes.
