apex legends season 11 patch notes

Apex Legends Season 11 is set to be one of the biggest ever for the FPS, introducing loads of new content. Here are the patch notes for the upcoming season, including Storm Point, Ash, and the Legend changes.

Apex Legends Season 11 is almost upon us, with the Monsters Within Halloween event taking players to the end of the season.

Although we have had a lot of information on the new Legend, Ash, as well as the Storm Point map, the developers have officially released the Season 11 patch notes, so let’s take a look at all the changes coming.

PlayStation users can actually pre-download the update right now so that it’s ready to install once the season is released.

New map – Storm Point

Apex Legends Storm Point map

This beautiful oasis was once an energy colony for the IMC, and the ruins remain. Many have tried to make a home here: all have failed. A survey of the area revealed the remains of three unique settlements built across the centuries, but no survivors. The colony lay abandoned, only visited by the occasional pirate or castaway. Now the Mercenary Syndicate has plans of their own for Storm Point.

It looks so enticing, but the pristine beaches and crystal waters are just the eyes of the hurricane. All around, dangers swirl: wild prowlers, venomous spiders, and the gathering storms only add to the tension in the air. Now the Legends are here to make this place their own.

Here are all the details you need to know about Storm Point:

  • Largest map in Apex Legends, 15% bigger than World’s Edge. There are 17 POIs, with lots of smaller ‘camps’ as well
  • It took 2 years to make this map, and they have designed it to minimize third parties. Made by Rodney Reece, the same designer as World’s Edge.
  • There is lots of water, but no swimming (water is only hip-high)
  • Only one redeploy balloon on the map at a POI called “Highpoint” – instead there are Gravity Cannons, which fires player from one end to the other. You can use weapons, gear and abilities while using cannon.

If you’re interested in checking out all the POIs, check out our piece on all the named locations on Storm Point.

Wildlife

ash fighting prowlers
  • Prowlers live on the map, and will defend their nests if attacked. Attacking them will earn a small amount of damage towards your evo shield, and killing them will reward loot,
  • Spiders live in nests and will ignore you unless you shoot their nest. Attacking them will earn a small amount of damage towards your evo shield. Will also drop loot when killed (we got a gold attachment 3/3 times when killing spiders in playtest, and ammo for the weapon you are using)

Season 11 Map rotation

Battle Royale

For the Escape update, the map rotation will be back down to 2 maps; Storm Point and World’s Edge. With Storm Point being a whole new map, we want to make sure players have plenty of time to master the new arena.

Arenas

With the introduction of Encore, the Arenas map rotation will now include only the custom-made Arenas maps. We will not be using BR locations for Arenas in the Escape update.

C.A.R SMG

Valk and C.A.R SMG

When you’re in a precarious place, you need a dangerous, flexible weapon: meet the C.A.R. SMG. The Combat Advanced Round submachine gun is a fully automatic weapon that takes adaptability to the next level by accepting either Light or Heavy mags.

The C.A.R. hits hard but handles light, this hybrid weapon’s the best of both words for when you’re ready to take a stand and become the most dangerous thing on the island.

Here are the damage numbers for the C.A.R:

  • Head: 20
  • Body: 13
  • Legs: 10

The C.A.R has a faster fire rate than the Volt and great hipfire, but, it has more recoil than the energy SMG.

New Legend – Ash

ash apex legends

Abilities

  • Passive: Marked for Death – Ash’s map shows the location of recent deathboxes. Press H on a deathbox to mark surviving attackers (once per box)
  • Tactical: Arc Snare – Throw a spinning snare that damages and tethers the first enemy that gets too close.
  • Ultimate: Phase Breach – Tear open a one-way portal to a targeted location
ash abilities

Further details about Ash’s abilities:

  • Tactical has one charge, cooldown is 24 seconds
  • Ultimate cooldown is 120 seconds. Portal disappears after 15 seconds. Portal is one way, can be used by friendlies and enemies too
  • Can use the data knife on a deathbox to find the remaining members of the squad
  • In Arenas, Ash’s passive is modified
  • If you try to leave tether of tactical you will be slowed
  • Ult: Ash uses a sword to tear a one-way portal, allies and enemies can follow, not sneaky – the audio is pretty loud

Legend changes

Apex Legends roster

Wattson is the only Legend getting significant changes in S11 – more changes are coming for other legends in the future.

Wattson

General:

  • Improved the reliability and responsiveness of placing Wattson’s Tactical and Ultimate in-world objects.
  • Wattson can place her Tactical and Ultimate objects on valid surfaces above Wattson’s eye level (to a reasonable extent).
  • General hitbox size increase, to compensate for the removal of low profile in the Legacy update.

Tactical – Perimeter Defense

  • Increased damage on crossing a Fence by 33%. (15 to 20)
  • Increased debuff duration on crossing a Fence by 100%. (1.5 to 3 seconds)
  • Increased the time allowance to be hit again by a subsequent Fence effect by 100%. (0.5 to 1 second).
  • Decreased recharge time by 50% (30 to 15 seconds).
  • Increased placement range by 50%.
  • Decreased the delay between Fences shutting off and reactivating after an ally passes through them by 60%. (1.0 -> 0.4 seconds)
  • Wattson now moves at Unarmed-speed while readying/placing Fence nodes.
  • Fence nodes can now be placed as soon as the weapon is readied, instead of waiting for the animation to finish.
apex legends wattson fences

Ultimate – Interception Pylon

  • The Pylon output has been significantly reworked.
    • Reduced the number of active Pylons Wattson can place from 3 to 1.
    • The Pylon now lasts forever (instead of timing out after 90 seconds).
    • The Pylon now has a pool of 250 Shields that can be distributed to nearby players, instead of effectively infinite Shields.
    • Increased the Pylon shield recharge rate by 150%, and smoothed regen rate. (2/second -> 5/second, or more accurately: 1/0.5 seconds -> 1/0.2 seconds)
    • When a Pylon is out of Shields, it no longer recharges players’ Shields, but can still zap incoming ordnance.
    • Taking damage while regenerating Shields via the Pylon delays continued regeneration by 1 second.
wattson ultimate
  • The UI on the ground and HUD elements now displays the amount of Shields that remain in the Pylon.
  • Pinging a friendly Pylon will now display the percentage of Shields remaining in the Pylon.
  • Pylon ordnance-zapping has been moderately reworked.
    • Ordnance is now zapped when the Pylon detects that it would hit any surface within range and line of sight of the Pylon, instead of being zapped as soon as it comes within range.
    • As a part of the changes, current issues where the Pylon doesn’t reliably zap ordnance (particularly concerning airstrike abilities, and ordnance that bounced off surfaces near the Pylon) should now be addressed.

This new Hop-Up “Dual Shell” allows players to load two rounds at a time for both the Mastiff shotgun and the 30-30 Repeater.

This will increase the efficiency at which players can reload these weapons, allowing them to get back into the fight quickly.

Season 11 Ranked updates

Apex Legends Ranked Rank Reset

Hello, Legends! Let’s take a quick look at how Ranked in Emergence shaped up and review the changes coming in Escape. Ranked continues to attract a large portion of players (around 40% of all playtime!), but this doesn’t mean we can’t look to make improvements.

Note: We fixed an issue where expired skydrive trails remained accessible for longer than they should have.

Ranked Battle Royale

  • Kill RP values now take differences between killer/victim Ranked tiers into account.
  • The kill RP cap (as we have traditionally thought about it up to this point) is effectively being raised from six to seven. However, this kill-related RP cap can be reached in different ways, depending on tier differences and placement. Placement is still paramount, and you still must place first to have a chance at max total RP.

To expand on the first point, tier differences between the killer and victim will be taken into account when calculating baseline kill point value. For example, if a Plat player kills a Diamond player, that kill counts as 12 instead of 10 RP.

Tier DifferenceKill Points
-33
-25
-18
010
112
215
320

Some points of clarification;

  • Victims do not lose more or less points when killed (in terms of entry cost). Only the killer receives the modifier.
  • Apex Predator and Master are treated as the same tier.
  • An encounter rate with someone of a 3+ tier difference is ultra-rare (less than 0.1%). Ranked matchmaking is staying the same, so in general, you’ll come across identical tiers. In cases where you squad up with a different rank friend or merge into a different tier lobby, your KP will be adjusted appropriately.

After tier differences are taken into account for kill points, a flat per kill bonus is added based on placement.

Final PlacementPer Kill Bonus

210
3
45
5
62
7
8
9
10
110

13
14+

The maximum kill point RP is 175. Any kill-related RP that exceeds that after placement and tier modifiers are added doesn’t affect total RP.  The final step is to add a flat placement bonus. Enough with the math, let’s explain these changes with an example:

As a Platinum player, you party up with your Diamond friend and matchmake into a lobby with similarly skilled players. You snag second place, with 6 kills (and/or assists) against Diamond players, and 3 on Plat players.

Each kill on those Diamond players is worth 12 points instead of the typical 10, because they are one rank tier higher than you. That leaves us with (12 × 6) + (10 × 3) = 102 RP.

Now let’s take placement into account. In second, the per kill bonus is 10, so our 9 kills (including assists) × 10 = 90 RP.

apex legends season 11 ranked points changes

We’re curious to see how these changes affect the ranked grind. Jump into Storm Point this first split and let us know how they feel. Stay tuned; this is only the start of what we have in store for Ranked improvements.

Season 11 Ranked Arenas changes

We learned a lot from the first season of Ranked arenas and are eager to bring you some improvements:

  • Arenas Ranked now has 2 splits, similar to Ranked Battle Royale
  • Along with each new season and split, there is a soft MMR reset and new placement matches.  New seasons require the usual 10 placement matches while a new split only requires 5 placement matches.
  • Improvements have been made to matchmaking for finding similarly skilled teammates.
  • Reduced the AP amount gained or lost from MMR differences between teams.

Apex Legends Season 11 Battle Pass changes

new battle pass system in apex legends season 11

Here’s what the official FAQ regarding Battle Passes and Special Events says:

  • Battle Pass – Can be obtained during the specific event period by Battle Pass owners who reach the required level. These items may return in a future event or promotion (This applies starting with Season 11 and onwards).
  • Event Limited – May return in a future event or promotion. (i.e. Collection Events, Themed Events).”

Battle Passes, in general, are transforming into something slightly more consumer-friendly to reward players who shell out the cash on them.

There you have it, that’s all of the Apex Legends Season 11 patch notes, which is definitely bringing some exciting updates to the game. If you’re still interested in Season 11, we’ve compiled every buff and nerf in Season 11, check it out!

Who is the most popular Apex Legends character? Season 11 pick rates

Apex Legends Season 11 is well underway, but who has dominated the pick rates for Season 11 of Respawn’s battle royale so far?

Published

on

apex legends map

Season 11 of Apex Legends has tons of characters to choose from to enjoy its several maps. But who has the top Season 11 pick rates in Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale shooter?

Apex Legends hit the ground running when it launched with eight different characters to choose from in its rival battle royale offering. The game suffered a notable lull when Call of Duty: Warzone launched, but with many players jumping ship to Respawn’s game in Season 10, Apex Legends Season 11 is pretty popular with gamers and streamers alike.

There are now a whopping 19 different Legends to choose from, giving players a headache before each game. The newest one is Ash, she debuted alongside the new Storm Point map.

Between the Arenas mode and Ranked Leagues to compete in, thousands of matches have already been logged in Season 11, and we will break down and find the Legends with the highest pick rates in Season 11.

Apex Legends Season 11 pick rate ranked list

This is our complete list of every character pick in Apex Legends, and we’ve ranked them in order to let you know which are favored more.

Here is every Apex Legends pick rate in Season 11 ranked, as of November 12, 2021, according to Apex Legends Status:

  1. Octane – 11.9%
  2. Wraith – 11.4%
  3. Ash – 10.7%
  4. Bloodhound – 9.1%
  5. Pathfinder – 8.7%
  6. Valkyrie – 6.8%
  7. Lifeline – 5.8%
  8. Bangalore – 4.8%
  9. Horizon – 4.5%
  10. Loba – 4.2%
  11. Gibraltar – 3.4%
  12. Mirage – 3.3%
  13. Fuse – 3.2%
  14. Caustic – 2.9%
  15. Wattson – 2.3%
  16. Seer – 2.1%
  17. Revenant – 2%
  18. Rampart – 1.7%
  19. Crypto – 1.3%

Most picked legends in Apex Legends Season 11

5. Pathfinder – 8.7%

pathfinder giving a thumbs up in apex legends

Pathfinder has slowly climbed his way up the rankings and gained many fans to become a part of Apex Legends’ top five picks at 8.1% and counting.

As a Recon class, Pathfinder simply excels in movements and traversing the game’s various maps. His Grappling Hook and Zipline Gun are simply invaluable assets that will help any team in a pinch – either because of the circle or a third-party situation. He consistently manages to stay in the top 5 as a result.

4. Bloodhound – 9.1%

apex legends bloodhound character

Again, with the influx of new Apex Legends players, Bloodhound is a great character to use for new players in Season 11.

Bloodhound nearly always stays in and around the 8-11% mark as a season goes on, and they currently stand at 8.8%. They are easily the top Recon class to use in Apex Legends, thanks to their tracking tools and incredible skills, plus, their Beast of the Hunt Ultimate is priceless.

3. Ash – 10.7%

ash posing in apex legends

As is always the case with a new season of Apex Legends, the debut of a new Legend usually drags tons of players away from their beloveds, and that has happened with Ash as she is in the top three with a pick rate of 16%.

Ash is a very offensive and aggressive Legend whose abilities let players launch deadly projectiles and also mark fresh deathboxes left behind by fallen players. This can help track players that have won a recent battle and could be prone to being jumped.

Ash’s Phase Breach ultimate can also give her a huge edge in battle and lead to potentially game-winning plays if used correctly.

2. Wraith – 11.4%

apex legends wraith character

Another starting legend, Wraith has been a consistent pick throughout Apex Legends’ lifetime, and she is still well-represented at 11.4% in Season 11.

Wraith’s stand-out features are her ability to get out of trouble very quickly – teammates included. Her abilities allow her to sense danger, become temporarily invulnerable, and create portals to escape predicaments. It’s easy to see why Wraith continues to be an absolute fan-favorite in Apex Legends Season 11.

1. Octane – 11.9% – Most picked Legend in Apex Legends Season 11

apex legends octane character

The pick rate king has returned in Season 11 after the Ash hype died down. With a 11.9% pick rate, the speed demon is currently the most popular Legend in Apex Legends Season 11.

Aside from his amusing quips, he is the perfect balance of offense and defense. Despite being regarded as an offensive Legend, Octane can greatly increase his sprint speed which is useful for both attack and running away.

But most Octane users thrive on his Launch Pad Ultimate which can send him, and friendly players, high up into the air.

That covers all the picks in Apex Legends Season 11. As always, buffs and nerfs will come and go throughout the season, affecting the game’s meta, and subsequently, Legend pick rates.

We’ll be sure to keep this updated regularly so you can stay on top of the in picks, and don’t forget to check out our guide on the best audio settings for Apex Legends Season 11.

Apex Legends community split over major Arc Star changes

The Apex Legends Raiders Collection Event patch notes revealed some changes coming to Arc Stars and players have reacted.

Published

on

apex legends arc star changes

Apex Legends’ players are reacting to the Arc Star nerf detailed in the Raiders Collection Event patch notes, with some being confused about the change.

Respawn has officially announced the Apex Legends Collection Event for Season 11 titled “Raiders.” As well as brand new Pirate-themed cosmetics, Wattson’s Heirloom, and the return of Winter Express, the game will also be receiving some changes.

These changes were detailed in the Raiders Collection Event patch notes and some have been questioning the decision to nerf the Arc Star Ordnance.

apex legends arc star

Arc Stars have always been a very useful and strong tool in Apex Legends. As well as being able to stick enemies with them, doing collective stick and detonation damage, they are also useful for damaging enemies who are holding a position.

It seems the devs have recognized their strength and decided to introduce some changes. As of December 7, the Arc Star will officially take on the following updates:

Apex Legends Arc Star changes

On Stick

  • Base stick damage lowered from 30 -> 10
  • Shield Damage Multiplier increased from x3 -> x4 (stick on shielded enemy will now max out at 40 instead of 90)
  • Sticking an enemy now applies a slow debuff (reverting Legacy update change)

Non-Sticks

  • Slow duration is now driven by distance to the center of Arc Star detonation
Apex Legends Ordnance arc star

The last time the devs brought changes to the Arc Star they removed the slow effect. It seems they will be reverting this change, bringing back the slow debuff but subsequently nerfing the overall potential damage.

The Arc Star will now do 10 damage on stick to an enemy without shield and 40 to an enemy with shield. Reddit user JuiceEeEeE361 had a few things to say about this change in their recent post, asking “why the hell did they nerf Arc Stars?”

A player in the comments also disagrees with the change, stating that they “would rather an Arc Star just f***ing decapitate me than slow me for longer than it does already.”

Respawn’s reasoning behind the change is because they felt the Arc Stars excelled in “a lot of areas.” They wanted to make them “less effective at area denial” and also make it more obvious when players were stuck with one.

It seems the community is split about the decision, as many comments are actually justifying the change: “It’s still really huge its just not an instant game over if you’re stuck, also the explosions slow being scaled with proximity makes so much sense.”

One user even mentioned how the change will benefit competitive Apex: “This has been a big issue in comp. It’s basically a pocket Kraber.”

We’ll have to wait for the update to see just how much this change will affect the Arc Star. For now, check out the most popular Legends in Season 11.

The Raiders Collection Event patch notes are introducing various changes. From a buff to Seer to the introduction of reticle color customization, players have a lot to look forward to.

Here are all the patch notes that have been detailed in Respawn’s latest blog.

Legends

  • Wattson: Fixed the issue with fences “sticking” when trying to place a node near a fence.
  • Wattson: Fixed bug for cases where Wattson’s Fence nodes ignored player collision.
  • Wattson: Fixed bug with the blueprint line not showing up to signify where the fence will be created.
  • Wattson: Fixed issue where Caustic’s Ultimate isn’t zapped by the Interception Pylon.
  • Wattson: Fixed bug where Arc Stars could stick to and damage the Interception Pylon
  • Ash: Based on feedback we’ve increased the audio presence of Ash’s Ultimate.
  • Ash will no longer “bleed” when shot and now displays sparks [like Pathfinder and Revenant].
  • Ash: fixed cases where a grid pattern would show on some rare and common skins.
  • Valkyrie / Revenant: Fixed a bug where using a Skydive with Death Totem at a specific time caused Valkyrie’s skydive to enter a bugged state.
  • Valkyrie: Fix for Birthright Skin where Valk’s jetpack control clips into her hands in first person.

Arenas

arenas encore map
  • Arenas: Fixed bug where Seer could continuously charge his tactical after it’s reached zero uses.
  • Arenas: Reduced reconnect times since the matches are shorter than a Battle Royale match.
  • Arenas: Fix for missing ammo UI on the common, rare, or epic, CAR.
  • Arenas: Fix for missing horizontal black bars while spectating.
  • Arenas: Fix for cases where the Death Tab is missing from the shop window.

Additional bug fixes

  • Fixed issue with a spot on Storm Point where players could camp in unintended areas near Command Center.
  • We also addressed multiple minor bugs around the map ranging from misplaced kill triggers and holes in geo.
  • Bocek Compound Fracture Legendary skin bug: Fixed an issue where players would still see iron sights when aiming even if another sight is equipped.
  • R-301 Dynastic Cycle Legendary skin bug: Fixed an issue with the gun using a mix of two different skins.
  • Fixed bug for cases where the Loba Edition displays “No Price Found” when viewed in the store tab.
  • Based on feedback we’ve reduced the SFX on reactive skins for the Volt.
  • Fixed bug where players were unable to scroll downwards when looting a death box or black market.
  • Fixed bug that was preventing players from getting Rampart’s Heirloom even after buying all 24 event packs.
  • Fixed bug where players could skydive faster after spamming Ping.
  • Fixed issue with players seeing the 888 Elite Mode Badge constantly unlocking.
  • Fixed bug where dive trails were not rewarded properly.

Balance changes

Seer Apex Legends

Seer

  • Decreased Focus of Attention detonation delay from 1.6s to 1.4s

Dev Note

“Seer was dialed back to a healthier spot with the balance hotfix soon after his release. However, after four months of evaluating his use in the live game, the detonation delay seems a little too sluggish. We want to improve its feel while continuing to evaluate the reveal meta as a whole.

Arc Star

Sticks

  • Base stick damage lowered from 30 -> 10
  • Shield Damage Multiplier increased from x3 -> x4 (stick on shielded enemy will now max out at 40 instead of 90)
  • Sticking an enemy now applies a slow debuff (reverting Legacy update change)

Non-Sticks

  • Slow duration is now driven by distance to the center of Arc Star detonation

Dev Note

“Arc stars excel in a lot of areas. They have high damage potential coupled with a punishing slow, and can be thrown more accurately than other ordnance types. Removing the stick slow created some degenerate play patterns and often made it hard to tell when you got stuck in the heat of battle. We’re bringing that back with a tradeoff of lower damage potential and a proximity based slow falloff in non-stick cases. These changes make stick scenarios more consistent across shield types and make arc stars less effective at area denial.

Splatter Rounds

  • Removed increased magazine capacity

Dev Note

Big Maude has been an awesome drop location and a reliable source of early power for teams that win the hotdrop. However, the paintball weapons are proving to be a little too strong so we’re going to remove the increased mag size but keep the handling improvements.

Crafting

  • Shotgun ammo, sniper ammo, and arrow crafting output reduced to a single stack

Private match

  • Observer Mode – UI and Scoring Improvements for in-game stats menu.
  • Observer Mode – Reduced opacity on Loba’s Back Market for map & mini-map.
  • Observer Mode – Added toggle option to show next ring location.
  • Added [Team] Eliminated text in kill feed for Private Match Anonymous mode.
  • Admins now have the ability to end matches in either Observer or Player positions.
  • Fixed issue for real time API delay after running consecutive games.
  • New real time API events including:
    • Shots fired
    • Kill awarded
    • Line by line formatting
    • Unique player IDs

Quality of life

apex legends 30-30

New Custom Reticle Color System

Custom Reticles are here! The new UI can be opened under Gameplay Settings by selecting the Customize option under Reticle.

Once in the new Custom Reticle UI you’ll be able to:

  • Select a color from some of our recommended favorites
  • Use the color and brightness sliders to find that perfect color
  • Manually enter an RGB color
  • Toggle between 4 different hand picked environments to preview your reticle

Dev Note

“You’ll be able to pick from a lot of colors in the new system, but darker colors won’t be selectable because of how some of our reticles react to the world (additive effect) which would make them invisible. If a manually entered RGB value is in that range, we will do our best to keep that hue but will bring that value closer to a safe color.

That’s all for the Apex Legends Raiders Collection Event patch notes. For more, check out our piece on the 2022 Apex Legends Anniversary event.
