apex legends season 11 review

Apex Legends has entered Season 11. Despite recent server issues, the new update shows why the battle royale has become so popular since its release.

Apex Legends Season 11 is a very ambitious update by Respawn Entertainment, especially considering the recent server issues.

That being said, Season 11 has been a breath of fresh air. With an extremely smooth launch and delightful new content, the new season proves that there is indeed beauty within the storm.

Apex Legends Season 11: Escape has officially landed, introducing loads of new content for players to enjoy. As well as a brand new map Storm Point, players have been getting to grips with the new Legend Ash and the C.A.R SMG.

Now that we’ve had some time to play and take the update in, we’ve rounded up our thoughts on Season 11.

Apex Legends Season 11 review

A smooth launch

Apex Legends players had been experiencing some serious server issues throughout Season 10. These issues prevented many from enjoying their experience. Respawn promised to help prevent these issues in the future, and with Season 11’s launch, it seems it is definitely doing so.

Season 11’s launch was surprisingly smooth considering the amount of content that Respawn introduced and the persistent server issues of Season 10. Players were able to jump in and play as soon as the season was released. It’s almost as if Season 11 weathered the storm, which leads nicely onto our next point.

Off to the tropics

Apex Legends Storm Point map

Let’s talk about the biggest piece of content that was introduced in the Season 11 update, Storm Point.

Storm Point is the latest addition to the map roster in Apex Legends, allowing players to battle it out on a tropical island.

Of course, like every map in Apex, Storm Point is gorgeous. It is a very colorful map with diverse terrain throughout.

Storm Point comes in as Apex’s biggest map. Although some may think this would make it harder to find enemies, it actually paces the matches very well.

Respawn designed the map to prevent third parties, and you can really tell a lot of effort went into accomplishing this goal. The POIs are spread out nicely and the removal of Jump Towers and the introduction of Gravity Cannons definitely helps prevent teams dropping in to clean up fights.

Another great addition to the Legend roster

Ash was rumored to be coming to the game for some time, and with Season 11, we’re definitely happy to see her join the fight.

If you love Titanfall, you’ll absolutely love this Legend, as everything about Ash is oozing with lore. From Banner Frames to her ability kit, you can really see how much Titanfall continues to inspire the content in Apex Legends.

Ash’s abilities are definitely on the stronger side of things, but nothing like Seer’s launch state in the previous season. Ash feels great offensively, and while her Passive may be slightly too strong, her Tactical and Ultimate take precision and skill.

Ash isn’t easy to pick up and start dominating. You will need to think and coordinate with your team to use her abilities effectively. Therefore, we feel Ash has launched in a fairly balanced state. Although her kit is powerful, players will really need to master the character to unlock her full potential.

Shifting the meta

Lastly, let’s talk about the C.A.R SMG, the latest weapon to enter Apex Legends. The C.A.R SMG has no doubt shaken up the meta in Season 11, as it boasts a higher DPS than the R-99.

The weapon is most dominant up close, as its recoil is pretty outrageous. However, The C.A.R’s hip-fire is one of the most accurate in the game. The weapon is also has an added layer of versatility thanks to the option to have Heavy/Light magazines and ammo.

Taking all this into account, the C.A.R SMG will most likely be getting a nerf soon, as it doesn’t have many negatives. However, players shouldn’t be raging about the C.A.R like when the Bocek Bow was released. The weapon is very powerful, but it doesn’t feel “over-powered.”

Perhaps Respawn needs to make small tweaks to put it back in line with the rest of the SMGs. Once this is done, we’ll have another balanced SMG option in the game that rivals the R-99.

Beauty in the storm

apex legends season 11 map gameplay

Overall, Season 11 has been a delightful update for players so far, especially since new maps don’t come around too often. Storm Point is incredible, giving players a vast new map to learn and explore, while Ash and the C.A.R are also strong additions to the game.

Further, the buffs and nerfs introduced have put the game in a great balance, and the changes to Ranked Leagues are in a positive direction. Despite the Battle Pass being slightly underwhelming this time around, the server issues seem to be under control and small quality-of-life changes to the game have been well received.

Verdict: 9/10

Respawn Entertainment have dropped a new patch for Apex Legends Season 13, which includes a variety of changes and even interactive objects for Lifeline’s Town Takeover.

In addition to the ranked split which occurred on June 28, Apex Legends has received a brand-new patch for Season 13, bringing a variety of bug fixes and updates to the game.

The Apex Legends 1.99 patch is small, but for those who are interested, here are the patch notes for the update.

Lifeline’s Clinic Easter Egg

This patch is very small, and Respawn Entertainment haven’t actually revealed patch notes for what the update actually brought to the game. However, thanks to dataminer Kralindo, we have information on what the update has done.

One of the most interesting changes in the patch is the addition of interactive objects in Lifeline’s Town Takeover.

In Lifeline’s Clinic, players can now play the drums, guitar, and more. Interacting with these objects will play audio, which is a little Easter Egg for Lifeline’s previous occupation as a punk band drummer, hence her drum sticks Heirloom.

Apex Legends 1.99 patch notes

Although there are no official patch notes for the Apex Legends 1.99 patch, luckily Kralindo has gone through the game’s code and figured out some of the changes.

There may be more changes server-side, but here are all the changes Kralindo managed to see:

  • Some small Newcastle tactical changes, most likely bug fixes
  • Lifeline town takeover interactive objects activated
  • 500 Apex Coins enabled in the store (via playlist)
  • Really small change for the Replicator

That’s all for the Apex Legends Season 13 1.99 patch. For more, check out how the ranked reset works.

Most picked Legends in Apex Legends Season 13

5. Bloodhound – 8.4%

apex legends bloodhound character

Again, with the influx of new Apex Legends players, Bloodhound is a great character to use for new players in Season 13.

Bloodhound nearly always stays in and around the 8-11% mark as a season goes on, and they currently stand at 8.4%. They are easily the top Recon class to use in Apex Legends, thanks to their tracking tools and incredible skills, plus, their Beast of the Hunt Ultimate is priceless.

4. Pathfinder – 9.5%

pathfinder giving a thumbs up in apex legends

Pathfinder has consistently been one of Apex Legends’ top five picks at 9.5%, and counting, for quite some time now.

As a Recon class, Pathfinder simply excels in movements and traversing the game’s various maps. His Grappling Hook and Zipline Gun are simply invaluable assets that will help any team in a pinch – either because of the circle or a third-party situation. He consistently manages to stay in the top 5 as a result.

3. Valkyrie – 10%

valkyrie apex legends

Despite getting some nerfs, Valkyrie is in the top 5 Legend pick rates for Season 13 with 10%, as she is the movement Queen. Her Jetpack Passive allows players to escape any kind of situation, which is crucial for survivability.

As well as her Passive, her Skyward Dive Ultimate is also great for mobility. This ability is the best rotational tool in all of Apex Legends, as it allows her and the team to relocate from a bad position or situation, into a good one.

Lastly, Valkyrie’s Tactical is also extremely useful for being aggressive and getting enemies out of camping spots, so long as you have enough room above you to launch the Missile Swarm.

2. Wraith – 10.2%

apex legends wraith character

Another starting Legend, Wraith has been a consistent pick throughout Apex Legends’ lifetime, and she has taken the number two spot with a 10.2% pick rate in Season 13.

Wraith’s stand-out features are her ability to get out of trouble very quickly – teammates included. Her abilities allow her to sense danger, become temporarily invulnerable, and create portals to escape predicaments. It’s easy to see why Wraith continues to be an absolute fan favorite in Apex Legends Season 13.

1. Octane – 11.4% – Most picked Legend in Apex Legends Season 13

apex legends octane character

With an 11.4% pick rate, the speed demon takes the number one spot, continuing his reign as one of the most popular Legends in Season 13, fluctuating between the top two places.

Aside from his amusing quips, he is the perfect balance of offense and defense. Despite being regarded as an offensive Legend, Octane can greatly increase his sprint speed which is useful for both attack and running away.

But most Octane users thrive on his Launch Pad Ultimate which can send him, and friendly players, high up into the air.

That covers all the picks in Apex Legends Season 13. As always, buffs and nerfs will come and go throughout the season, altering the game’s meta, and subsequently, Legend pick rates.

We’ll be sure to keep this updated regularly so you can stay on top of the in picks and don’t forget to check out our guide on the best Legends to choose in Season 13.

Apex Legends Mobile leak claims Solos mode arrives before PC & console

Apex Legends players have been calling for a Solos mode for many seasons, but according to leaks mobile players could be getting it first.

Published

Apex Legends Mobile leaks are suggesting that the handheld version of the battle royale will be getting a Solos mode before PC and Console.

Apex Legends offers players a variety of ways to play the battle royale. Those who like to enjoy casual games can hop into public games, while those who like a challenge can indulge in the Ranked Leagues.

There’s also the Arenas mode and various LTMs ever so often with the Awakening Collection Event for Season 13 bringing the return of Control.

Having said that, Apex Legends players have been wanting a Solos mode ever since the Iron Crown Event back in Season 2, however, it seems mobile will be getting it first.

apex legends mobile gameplay

Back in Apex Legends Season 2, players were given the Iron Crown Event, which saw a Solo LTM introduced into the game. Ever since it was removed, it has yet to return.

This has left Apex players wanting a Solos mode for over ten seasons, and according to leaks, Apex Legends Mobile Season 2 could be getting the highly requested mode first.

Apex Legends dataminer ThatOneGamingBot discovered some interesting icons in the Apex Legends Mobile files, suggesting that Solos will be introduced.

This of course caused disappointing reactions from the community, who have been hoping that the mode would be introduced on consoles and PC as well. Thordan Smash sarcastically commented “Nice that Apex Legends is finally getting Solo Mode…for mobile,” along with a sad face emoji.

Having said that, the dataminer did reply to Thordan’s reaction, stating that the Solos mode from Apex Mobile is “probably an LTM.” While this could be true, Thordan Smash replied again saying that he’d “gladly take solos as an LTM again” on consoles and PC.

We’ll have to wait and see how this leaked Solos mode will be introduced on Apex Legends Mobile. It does seem that the handheld version of the battle royale is getting more and more exclusive content, especially as the second mobile-exclusive Legend was also leaked for Season 2.
