Apex Legends Season 8: Release date, new Legend, Repeater Rifle
Respawn Entertainment have finally revealed Apex Legends Season 8’s release date and introduced us to the new Legend, Fuse.
Respawn Entertainment dropped the latest episode of ‘Stories from the Outlands’ which revealed the release date for Apex Legends Season 8, as well as the new Legend, Fuse.
As we approach the end of Apex Legends Season 7, players have begun looking forward to what’s in store for Season 8.
Season 7 introduced a new Legend, Horizon, who can manipulate gravity, alongside the new map, Olympus. There have been leaks and rumors regarding Season 8, but on Monday, January 18, Respawn Entertainment officially revealed the next season.
Apex Legends Season 8 release date
Apex Legends Season 8, titled Mayhem, is set to drop on February 2, 2021, as announced by Respawn Entertainment.
The Stories from the Outlands video, “Good as Gold,” revealed the official release date of the eighth season.
Season 8 comes two days before the second anniversary of the popular battle royale game, so expect this to be a huge content drop. Season 4 dropped on Apex’s first anniversary, and it offered players an Anniversary Badge and XP to celebrate.
New Apex Legends character
In a slightly confusing trailer, “Good as Gold” introduced Apex Legends’ 16th Legend, Fuse. This Australian Legend favors explosives, with leakers discovering that he will have a Projectile Grenade and Fire Bomb.
We see Wally, nicknamed Fuse, discover a golden grenade alongside his friend, Max. The two grew up together taking part in dangerous missions, repeatedly stealing the grenade off of each other. Max hero-worshiped a group of freedom fighters from their planet, Salvo, but Fuse wasn’t interested in them.
Fuse gained fame in the fighting pits, much to his friends apparent jealously. Their friendship eventually ended after Fuse became the fighting pit champion and he revealed that he is leaving to join the Apex games. Max chucked the golden grenade at him, blowing off his arm. He didn’t seem to care and left Max behind.
A press release also revealed that the 30-30 Repeater Rifle will be coming to Apex Legends in Season 8.
As we receive more information about Apex Legends Season 8, we’ll be sure to update you.

Apex Legends Season 8 Chaos Theory event: Release date, Heirloom, more
Respawn Entertainment will bring brand new content to Apex Legends Season 8 in the upcoming Chaos Theory event.
The Chaos Theory event will bring a plethora of exciting new content to Apex Legends Season 8, including a new Heirloom and Town Takeover. Here’s everything we know about it so far.
The Apex Legends Anniversary Collection Event allowed fans to celebrate the game’s two-year anniversary while bringing cool new content to the battle royale in Season 8. Now, it appears Respawn Entertainment have another event planned known as Chaos Theory.
There are plenty of leaks and rumors about what kind of content we can expect from this Season 8 event, including a brand new Heirloom. Here’s an overview of everything that has been revealed about it so far.
When is the Chaos Theory event?
We expect this event to begin on March 11, shortly after Apex Legends releases on the Nintendo Switch. The name “Chaos Theory” was revealed by Target on their Nintendo Switch Champion Edition listing.
It will go live soon after the Anniversary Collection Event ends on March 3. Generally, events in this game last around two and three weeks, so we expect Chaos Theory to have a similar duration.
Caustic Town Takeover
A few leaks emerged recently which suggested that Caustic would be the next Legend to get his own Town Takeover, and that we should expect to see some clues in the game soon. Some Apex players found the first teaser which dropped on February 23.
There was a ton of speculation about where Caustic’s Town Takeover will take place, and the leaks pointed towards Water Treatment on Kings Canyon. Hopefully, Respawn will give us a first look at it soon.
Bangalore Heirloom
Bangalore is the only character from the original roster in Apex Legends who is still awaiting her Heirloom, and it seems like that time has arrived. Some data miners managed to dig up an Heirloom in the files after the Aftermarket Event.
The leaked images show Bangalore’s Heirloom to be a knife resembling a Kukri, which is a type of Indian Machete.
Completing Season 8’s Anniversary event will net you 150 Heirloom Shards to spend on an already existing Heirloom of your choice so you might want to save up on those.
Chaos Theory event skins
While we haven’t gotten a first look at the new Chaos Theory event skins yet, a few data miners may have figured out which Legends will be getting these cosmetics.
This information came from reliable Apex Legends leaker Biast12, who listed the following characters that will receive brand new skins:
Legendary:
- Caustic
- Crypto
- Gibraltar
- Loba
- Rampart
- Revenant
- Wattson
Epic:
- Octane
- Caustic
- Wattson
We might also see the addition of recolored variants of past event skins, but it’s not clear whether or not Respawn will release these as part of the Chaos Theory event. That covers everything we know so far!

Apex Legends devs considering making Locked & Loaded mode permanent
One Apex Legends dev has confirmed that Respawn is considering making the Locked & Loaded loot changes permanent.
Respawn Entertainment have stated that they just might make the Locked & Loaded mode loot changes permanent due to the praise this mode received from Apex Legends fans.
The Apex Legends Season 8 Anniversary Collection Event brought a ton of new content to the battle royale. One major inclusion was the Locked & Loaded mode, which sees all players spawn in the match with level 1 loot.
This LTM allows you to jump into the game with a basic helmet, shield, Mozambique, optic and syringes already equipped. Needless to say, this convenience made the mode popular among Apex fans, and Respawn took notice.
While the mode was only supposed to be around for a limited time, it seems that it may be here to stay.
Reddit user blitz_na started a thread in the Apex Legends subreddit, in which they asked Respawn to consider keeping Locked & Loaded around for good. This led to a response from lead game designer Daniel Klein, who gave the fans hope.
“We are… considering [it],” he said. “Carefully. No conclusion has been reached yet. I’m personally a little worried about shortening the loot loop by removing grey loot… other than that though, it seems like all upside.”
This caused quite a stir among Apex fans, as the dev received a variety of different responses from them. Many of them felt a sense of joy at the possibility of Locked & Loaded being made permanent, while others responded far less favorably.
A few fans made it clear that they find it difficult to return to the base game after trying out the LTM, even if it was just for a short while. Others suggested that Respawn allow players to keep the grey loot, but they should still spawn without a weapon to keep things challenging.
As exciting as this sounds, it’s important to keep in mind that no conclusion has been reached yet. As Klein explained, they’re currently considering the potential downsides of implementing this change, so they’ll have to test it out for a while.
Apex Legends players can still enjoy Season 8 in the meantime and find out how to best master Fuse and the best landing spots.

Possible teaser for Caustic Town Takeover found in Apex Legends
A potential teaser for Caustic’s upcoming Town Takeover may have been discovered by some Apex Legends players.
A few Apex Legends players have discovered a potential teaser for Caustic’s upcoming Town Takeover on Kings Canyon, which has fueled the hype even further.
Respawn Entertainment like giving each character their own Town Takeovers that reform a POI in that Legend’s image. The previous season introduced a Pathfinder-themed boxing arena, and fans have been wondering about who will get the spotlight in Season 8.
A few leaks emerged recently which suggested that Caustic would be the next Legend to get his own Town Takeover, and that we should expect to see some clues in the game soon. Some Apex players may have found these teasers.
Apex Legends Caustic Town Takeover teasers
On February 23, Respawn added a brand new Apex Legends loading screen that shows Caustic walking before stopping to check out the Crash Site in Kings Canyon. This doesn’t sound like much on its own, but it fits with a few previous leaks.
The release of this loading screen lines up with what the Apex data mining community predicted back in early February, when a schedule for ‘s08_tt_teaser_phases’ was leaked, pointing to this date. However, that’s not all that Respawn have changed up.
In addition to the new loading screen, a few matches are reportedly rendering a Caustic on the Apex Arena. Reddit user kittycakekats posted a clip in the Apex Legends subreddit, showcasing the character in the same place that he’s seen in the loading screen.
So far, there has been no indication of other Caustic Town Takeover teasers or easter eggs to search for in the battle royale. Despite this, the hype hasn’t quelled, as fans are discussing different theories of what to expect.

There are some in the Apex community who feel that the Legend’s current strength leaves a lot to be desired, and this has led to them worrying about what the Town Takeover will play like.
The schedule states that the next in-game teaser is set to appear on February 25, and we’ll keep checking for any official announcements by Respawn Entertainment. Hopefully, we’ll get a better look at the Town Takeover soon.
