Apex Legends 1.78 update patch notes seer nerf

After a minor delay, the Apex Legends Season 10 Legend Seer finally got a nerf in the 1.78 update patch notes.

Although the Seer nerf was originally planned earlier in the season, and there have been some rumors suggesting he was “omega-buffed” before Season 10’s release, the developers have finally released a new update.

The update doesn’t only fix various Season 10 bugs, but most importantly, the update also introduces a variety of nerfs for Recon Legend Seer.

Seer has dominated the pick rates for Season 10 ever since his release, becoming one of the strongest Recon Legends in the game. Not only was Seer’s Passive great, allowing him to detect enemy heartbeats from a pretty long range, but both his Tactical and Ultimate were extremely strong too.

His Tactical, Focus of Attention was arguably the main issue with Seer, as not only did it do damage to players, it also flashed their screen and revealed them for eight seconds, which is the longest reveal in the game.

Seer’s Ultimate was also powerful, having an unbelievably fast cool-down, allowing him to use his Ultimate for most fights constantly. However, in this new update, Seer’s kit has finally been nerfed.

Here are the full patch notes for update 1.78:

Seer Changes

Passive

  • Increased wait time between sensor spikes for full HP targets (1.25s to 1.75s)
  • Removed center circle elipses
  • Reduced range beyond 75m (blue spikes)
  • Reduced field of view

Tactical

  • Increased detonation delay from 1.4s to 1.6s
  • Players hit are no longer damaged or flashed. Screen shake from being his is also reduced
  • Move slow added while holding tactical
  • Lowered volume on audio
  • Fixed tactical FX being visible in firing range when it’s not supposed to be

Ultimate

  • Increased cooldown from 90s to 120s
  • Lowered volume on audio

Miscellaneous

  • Fixed several error related with Seer
  • Adjusted volume of voice lines that play when Seer is chosen

Other Fixes

  • Fixed a problem caused by Climbatizer FX (“No existing effect for handle” error)
  • Fixed an issue with challenges (“Array index -1 is out of range”)
  • Fixed most instances of Legends “holding a grenade” when they have none in their inventory (Watson still suffers from this in some rare cases)
  • Fixed an error with using multiple greandes on explosive holds (a following update later today will cause explosive holds to spawn closed again)
  • Switch: Fixed Holospray display

The Seer changes seem pretty big on paper and could potentially balance the Legend with the rest of the roster. However, the real test to see the impact of these changes will be after some playtime.

Perhaps this update will bring Seer back in line regarding the pick rates as well, as it seemed like every team was running a Seer before this patch.

Apex Legends players slam “trash” Ranked system and matchmaking issues

Apex Legends players have called out the game’s “trash” Ranked mode, arguing that the matchmaking is ruining their experience.

Apex Legends players have called out the game’s Ranked matchmaking, claiming it’s placing them in unfair matches against opponents well out of their league.

Apex Legends Season 14 has been well received by the community, with the new character Vantage and other quality of life changes bringing the feel-good factor back to the battle royale.

Unfortunately, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing, and fans have been quick to point out a number of issues in the new season. Wattson’s fence is still broken despite the fix that was supposed to come in Season 14, while the Battle Pass has also come under fire.

Now, although Respawn did make some welcome changes, players have slammed Apex Legends’ Ranked mode for putting together lobbies with a huge skill gap.

Reddit user Azrael462 started a thread criticizing the state of matchmaking in Apex Ranked, arguing the wide range of ranks that can make up a single lobby make it less enjoyable for those in lower brackets.

“If I am in gold I should be fighting gold people, NOT F*****G PREDS OR MASTERS,” the user ranted. “You can actually say it’s a skill issue here because clearly it is, gold is the third rank below masters and fourth below pred, now fix your f*****g system.”

Apex Legends Ranked mode, like most similar modes, is supposed to work on skill-based matchmaking, where only players of a similar rank are put together to make for an even fight. However, players are noticing that this doesn’t seem to be the case.

The OP seemed to point the blame at streamers, as they felt that the current matchmaking system was designed to give full-time players in higher ranks more chance of finding a lobby, rather than being lumped together in every match.

“I’m tired of getting 1k damage and 3 kills only to still lose 30 RP because OF A F*****G PREDATOR STREAMER,” the Redditor continued. “Listen to the community and not the streamers because clearly they don’t know a f*****g thing.”

Other comments seemed to agree that Ranked mode is becoming more punishing, especially if you happen to be in the Bronze, Silver, or Gold tiers. “Never seen a game with worse matchmaking IMO,” argued one reply. “No other game made me feel so fucking helpless like apex did, not even League [of Legends],” said another.

This has been an ongoing frustration among the Apex community, and players will be hoping to see Ranked mode’s matchmaking given some tweaks during Season 14 or in the Season 15 update.

Apex Legends leakers discover Season 15 Legend in game files

Apex Legends leaks have discovered a brand-new character name in the Season 14 game files, which could be the Season 15 Legend.

apex legends mirage and vantage shooting

An Apex Legends leak may have possibly revealed the name of the Season 15 Legend, which some will remember from a previous huge Legend leak.

Apex Legends Season 14 has just got underway, giving players a brand-new Legend to enjoy, which pro player ImperialHal has some strong opinions about.

A new season of Apex doesn’t just mean a new Battle Pass, Collection Event, and buffs and nerfs in the patch notes, it also means that dataminers have a new game version to sift through and find unreleased information.

As always, these leakers have found new information on Apex Legends Season 15, including who the new Legend could be.

In a YouTube video from Apex Legends content creator bobz, it’s highlighted that dataminers have found a Holospray in the Season 14 game files that has Catalyst in the code: “hspray_epic_v22_catalyst_01.”

Back in Apex Legends Season 12, there was a massive leak that revealed a variety of unreleased Legends. At the time, Legends like Newcastle and Vantage were discovered, giving legitimacy to the leak as these Legends are now available.

In this leak there was also a Legend called Catalyst, who can reinforce cover and create structures with “ferro fluid.”

The fact that this name has popped up in the Season 14 game files as well further suggests that Catalyst will be seen in Apex Legends, and it could even be for Season 15.

It’s obviously a long way out until Season 15, and these are just leaks, so take them with a pinch of salt. However, it would make sense to see Catalyst in Season 15 considering the devs have added a Holospray with the character’s name.

Apex Legends pro ImperialHal explains why players should avoid “trash” Vantage

Apex Legends pro ImperialHal believes the new Season 14 Legend Vantage is “trash,” as he comments on her sniper-focused kit.

vantage in apex legends

Apex Legends Season 14 introduced Vantage as a brand-new Legend, and while most in the community have been enjoying her kit, pro player Phillip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen believes the character is “trash.”

With the Apex Legends Season 14 update, players have finally got their hands on the latest Legend to join the roster, Vantage.

While it may be hard for Vantage to compete with the meta thanks to the buffs for Legends like Mad Maggie and Newcastle, she definitely offers players something different.

This new Recon Legend offers players a unique sniper-focused playstyle that has quite a few tricks already, as players found that Vantage can actually wall run.

With that said, a pro player for TSM is not convinced by Vantage, calling her “one of the worst characters in the game,” especially in Ranked Leagues.

During a stream, ImperialHal shared his opinions on Apex Legends Season 14’s new Legend. While the pro has only had a week to get to know the character, ImperialHal feels that Vantage is “trash.”

While it seems like a pretty harsh take, ImperialHal does explain his opinion, stating that her kit is “really good early game,” but “gets worse as the game goes on.”

ImperialHal goes on, saying that “if you’re fighting off spawn she’s pretty good, but passed like the looting stage I feel like she’s not that good…as soon as it gets like to mid and late game, she’s like one of the worst characters in the game.”

The pro Apex Legends player does give fans of Vantage some hope, however, saying that she could be a really good pair with Newcastle, who received some pretty strong buffs to his kit in Season 14.

Overall, Hal just feels as if her Sniper’s Mark Ultimate ability is not strong enough for late game in ranked, “her ulty just gets really bad when it’s against like purple armors and red armors…playing ranked it just seems like I can’t do anything after the early game.”
