Apex Legends Battle Pass overhaul in Season 22 explained
Respawn EntertainmentMassive changes to Apex Legends‘ Battle Pass system have been announced by Respawn Entertainment, which completely changes the way players will purchase and experience the cosmetic pass.
Set to arrive with Season 22, the new Battle Pass will feature a Ultimate+ option, which seems to take inspiration from Call of Duty’s BlackCell offering. So, here’s all the details you need to know.
All Battle Pass changes
- Each split will now have its own 60 Tier Battle Pass as opposed to having one 110 Tier pass per season.
- Less favored rewards from previous passes have been removed.
- You can unlock the Premium Battle Pass by completing a series of simple in-game challenges (through Split 1).
- The cost of the Battle Pass has been reduced and there’s now a new Ultimate+ offering.
- The Premium Battle Pass will retain its original price of 950 Apex Coins.

Following the backlash after Apex Legends’ Battle Pass pricing changes were announced, the devs shared via an X post on July 24 that they “could have handled the changes better” and will restore the ability to get the premium Battle Pass for 950 Apex Coins.
The initially announced changes required players to purchase the Premium offering with real money instead of using in-game coins as they previously could. This modification, however, has been withdrawn.
The new Ultimate+ Track has replaced the discontinued Premium Battle Pass bundle, which offered you tier skips for extra Apex Coins. It’s reminiscent of the BlackCell BP offering in Call of Duty, which players pay real money for to get exclusive Battle Pass cosmetics.
Season 22 won’t just bring an overhaul to the Battle Pass but it’s also set to introduce a new map that leakers claim is called District, as well as a Lifeline rework.
