Apex Legends devs address Lifeline’s major Season 9: Legacy changes
Respawn Entertainment took to Reddit for their latest AMA on the Season 9: Legacy update. One of the questions brought up the recent Apex Legends Lifeline changes, and this sparked a dev’s reply, which gives fans an insight into her current state and their plans for her future.
Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy has seen many changes and pieces of content enter the game, from weapon buffs and nerfs, a new Legend, and even a 3v3 Arenas mode.
As with every seasonal patch, the game’s roster of Legends also received various changes, with Apex Legends combat medic, Lifeline, receiving a big update to her kit, but was it too strong or weak?
The Apex Legends Legacy patch notes saw Lifeline received both buffs and nerfs to balance her strong win rate in Season 8.
Lifeline’s revive power was too strong due to the revive shield that protected players as she brought them back into the fight. Not only were the players protected by a shield, but Lifeline could also stay in the fight and offer further protection.
This meant Lifeline had a very high win rate in Season 8, as her ability to keep her team alive and survive was simply too strong, ultimately causing the devs to make changes in Season 9: Legacy.
During Respawn Entertainment’s latest AMA (ask me anything) for the Legacy update, one user brought up Lifeline’s changes, asking, “How is lifeline doing after the rework of buffs and nerfs?”
Apex Legends developer Daniel Klein responded, giving a clear answer as to how the devs are feeling about her changes:
It seems the devs still view Lifeline as very strong even without her res shield, still performing very well in the battle royale and even more so in Arenas. However, Daniel does also say that this doesn’t mean Lifeline should be nerfed.
Daniel makes one of the most interesting points in this answer regarding the price of the Gold bag in Arenas, which is really where most of her power is in the new 3v3 mode: “It’s possible gold backpack is just too cheap in arenas as well.”
Perhaps we may see a change in the Gold bag price for Arenas in the future instead of a kit nerf. Overall, it seems like the devs are happy with the state of Lifeline in Season 9, with her changes improving both how she feels when playing against and as her.
That’s all on the dev’s response to Lifeline’s Season 9: Legacy changes. For more on Apex Legends, stay tuned on Charlie INTEL and check out our article on Revenant’s potential future buff.
