Apex Legends devs respond to a bug dropping players under the map
An Apex Legends bug is causing players to fall through the map when dropping into Olympus. One developer from Respawn has taken notice of this and responded to the problem.
Most games initially experience a few glitches and bugs every time they go through a major update, and Apex Legends is no exception. The game has seen its share of bugs that have frustrated fans, such as broken character abilities and Legends swapping models.
Many of these problems started appearing when Season 7 went live on November 4, 2020. Respawn was able to patch up some of them, while other bugs remain. One glitch causes players to sink under the Olympus map completely at random.
This had led to some fans posting about it, and has caught the attention of the developers.
Respawn dev response
Reddit user u/Klutzy__YT posted a clip of a bug in the Apex Legends subreddit. The thread, titled “Respawn what the heck is this,” consists of many different Apex players discussing the glitch that forces them to fall through the map.
The clip shows a team heading towards the ground. Each of the players finds somewhere to land, except one. That unlucky Legend phases through the solid surface of the map and instantly dies. You can see this in the clip below.
This is a game-breaking bug that can cause players to turn away from the game. One of the developers noticed this and responded to the issue in the thread. They assured the fans that Respawn will be investigating the glitch.
At this point, a few players offered to send recordings of their own experience with this bug. The dev then replied:
“Sure, go right ahead! But if possible I would prefer separate clips as it’s easier for us to share them around instead of having to link timestamps. If not, that’s okay, we’ll make do with what we get. Feel free to send it as a PM when you’re done. Cheers!”
The exact cause of this bug is not known at this time. A few Reddit users suggested that it might be a problem with players detaching from the jumpmaster. Until we hear back from the developers, this is purely speculation.
It comes as a relief that Respawn is looking into this now. Hopefully, this will get patched up soon, and we’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
