Apex Legends’ Season 19 is in full swing with players enjoying the introduction of Conduit, the new Legend, and the rework of Storm Point. In addition, Respawn have implemented numerous buffs and nerfs, as well as multiple free events.
Following the streak of events within the game, players will be treated to a new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth crossover event. This promises fresh skins, a Final Fantasy-themed mode, and additional exciting cosmetics.

Apex Legends Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event release date
The Apex Legends and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event will be released on January 9, 2024, and will stick around until January 30, 2024, as confirmed by the official Apex Legends blog post.

The Apex Legends and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth crossover event will be filled with a ton of new content including the BR Takedown mode, the Buster Sword R2R5, and more.

Apex Legends BR Takedown mode explained
In the Takedown mode, players will be able to wield the Buster Sword R2R5, which will be scattered around the map or within Care Packages.
The powerful sword will have gameplay abilities featuring light and heavy attacks, including “blocking to reduce damage taken and dash to close the gap.”
When filling up the meter, players can access the “quintessential Limit Break.” Keep in mind that the more damage you deal, take, and block, the faster the meter will fill.
What are Materia Hop-Ups in Apex Legends?
The Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event will feature five Materia Hop-Ups which is going to grant players “increased effects and/or bonuses.” Here are all the Materia Hop-Ups available during the Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event.

Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth skins & cosmetics
As with previous events within Apex Legends, this event’s collection will include 36 cosmetic items available randomly via “dedicated Apex Legends and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event packs,” including plenty of Legends and weapons skins.
However, the event will have a “Four-Pack guarantee” option, assuring the acquisition of a Legendary or Iconic item until all items of that rarity have been obtained.
Universal Mythic Melee: Buster Sword R5
The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event will feature the Buster Sword R5 in Apex Legends, a universal Mythic Melee cosmetic. The sword can be used as an alternative to your Heirloom or fists, however, it’s important to note that it won’t be available in the Mythic Shop once the event concludes.
Apex Legends Gil currency & Reward Shop explained
The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event introduced a new currency called Gil, which players can earn while playing Takedown and completing challenges. These will be exchangeable in the Rewards Shop to unlock event-limited items or earn additional Battle Pass Stars.
Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Twitch Drops
Additionally, the event will also feature Twitch Drops for players to earn by watching selected Twitch streams from January 12, 2024, to January 30, 2024.

- Soft Landings now play audio in world ( not just for Horizon )
- Gravity Lift exit audio range increased to make it easier to hear characters who exit
Newcastle
- Castle Wall: impact will now destroy Conduit’s Energy Barricade mines
- Mobile Shield: can now be destroyed by enemy Crypto EMP
- Delayed balance adjustments from the season 19.0 patch are now fully integrated

- Amped Walls are no longer destroyed by friendly Crypto EMP or Mad Maggie’s Wrecking Ball

- Wattson: Ultimate correctly recharges shields when placed after Bangalore’s smoke
MODES
- Abilities that outline players should no longer stop functioning after killing an enemy
- Silence abilities should no longer cancel auto healing
- Voice chat is no longer heard outside of the squad in TDM and Control
Control
- Caustic Treatment: weapons cannot be used on the supply ship
- Damage not taken while inside the respawn ship
- Players no longer occasionally spawn in a skydive state when respawning on Kings Canyon
- Players no longer lose invulnerability while still on the dropship when spawning on the MRB
CODE OPTIMIZATIONS
- Fixed issue with dynamic resolution not reacting fast enough to high graphics load. Improves frame rate stability on consoles
- DX12 (PC) video memory (VRAM) usage is now reduced by 1.5 – 2GB
- DX12 (PC) improved graphics performance with parallelization of rendering workloads
- Upgraded Nvidia Reflex SDK to v1.8 and adds support for latency markers

Conduit
- Improved visibility for jammers
- Ultimate SFX can no longer be heard in other Firing Range instances
Mirage’s Decoys
- Improved issues against terrain that would cause destruction/floating
- Any destroyed by terrain will now be refunded
- Improved to more correctly copy the ADS state of the player
- No longer mimic reviving or execution animations
Newcastle
- Voice line added when Newcastle removes one of his own Castle Wall segments
