Apex Legends leak reveals unreleased character with “Fortnite” abilities
Apex Legends leaks have revealed an unreleased character that looks to bring some Fortnite-Esque gameplay to the FPS battle royale.
There have been loads of leaks for Apex Legends throughout Season 12 and although this is a shame for the devs, it is no doubt an exciting time for players expecting future content.
Not only are we now getting official teasers in-game for Season 13 by Respawn, but leaks among the community have potentially revealed content for the next nine seasons.
In a leak that revealed a ton of unreleased Legends, one, in particular, stood out, as their abilities are somewhat similar to Fortnite‘s building mechanic.
Popular leaker and community member Thordan Smash posted a video on April 8 revealing a Legend called “Catalyst.”
The footage used in the video is taken from the anonymous leak that also revealed 5 unreleased weapons and the potential Season 13 Legend Newcastle.
This Legend’s description is “Creative Builder,” and their abilities are all about creating strong cover for them and the team. It’s easy to see why the Legend is being compared to Fortnite, as the idea of creating structures to gain an advantage is basically Fortnite’s USP.
Apex Legends Catalyst leaked abilities
Their leaked kit is based on “Ferrofluid,” which is essentially the substance the character used to build structures.
Although these structures aren’t the same or as varied as Fortnite’s, there’s still a comparison to be made just based on the concept.
- Passive: Reinforce
- Standing near your ferrofluid structures, doors, and other Legends placeables will strengthen their integrity and allow them to take significantly more damage.
- Tactical: Ferro Shot
- On impact, the shot creates a ramp of hardened ferrofluid that can be extended with more shots. Can also be used to create platforms on walls. (Max 3 structures)
- Ultimate: Iron Tower
- Ferrofluid rises up from below pushing you upwards while creating a tall solid column under you.
This character definitely sounds different and it will be interesting to see how similar it is to Fortnite’s building.
With all the influence Apex Legends has had over the battle royale scene, it’s about time Apex took some inspiration from the game that started the craze. Remember, these are just leaks and as we know with Forge, nothing is cemented until the content is officially released.
With that being said, a Legend with these Fortnite-Esque abilities would definitely spark interest in the community.
