Respawn EntertainmentApex Legends’ original Kings Canyon map is set to see some drastic changes in Season 14, so here’s everything you need to know about the map update.
Apex Legends Season 14 is almost among us, and we have a decent amount of information regarding the new Legend Vantage, the Level Cap increase, and what to expect regarding balance changes.
We now also have some official news regarding the Kings Canyon map update, inducing the return of Skull Town and more.
Apex Legends Season 14 Kings Canyon map changes
Skull Town/Relic
First off, Skull Town is officially back, but it’s now known as Relic and while the design does pay ode to Skull Town, it is much different from the original. The massive Skull is back, but the skeleton is no longer there. There are buildings around and in the middle of the POI that sit just underneath the skull.
There are also now massive walls around the POI and the location will sit directly where Salvage once was. In the EA blog, the devs are hoping that this new POI will “bring back gameplay that many players loved from the original Kings Canyon, but with a POI more appropriately sized for the overall health of the map.”
Cage, Hillside, & Relay
The devs also decided to modify various parts of the map, including POIs such as Cage, Hillside, and Relay. Cage has been chopped down and despite still retaining a dominant power position, it will now be easier for players to push those on top of Cage.
The smaller POI Hillside has also undergone some changes, as the devs have decided to remove the buildings in this area and keep it more open. The dev’s goal with this change is to “resolve fights faster and allow safer rotations through this space.”
Relay has also gone through some changes and will now be called Basin. The devs have restored some of the previous buildings that were in this area to give the POI more life.
Modified rotations
Lastly, the devs have also modified the rotations on Kings Canyon for Apex Legends Season 14. Many of the routes and cave connections you have become accustomed to on the map have now changed to “help make the flow of squads more predictable,” and “reward players for planning their rotations thoughtfully.”
Skybox, lightning, and loot
The skybox and lightning for Kings Canyon has also been freshened up, bringing a more “immersive, vibrant environment.”
The loot has also been refreshed, as the devs have “taken the time to re-examine loot on Kings Canyon at a holistic level to get it back to a healthy spot.”
Kings Canyon has gone through a rebalance in terms of loot, including the disparity, quality, and quantity of loot across the map.
