Apex Legends to get third-person emotes in Legacy update
The latest information surrounding Apex Legends reveals the battle royale’s plans to introduce some third-person emotes to go along with Holosprays and quips.
Like many other free-to-play games, Apex Legends could be the next to add standing emotes for players to enjoy, perhaps gaining them from the battle passes.
Currently, Apex Legends lacks in the emote department, focussing more on the Holosprays, quips, and Heirloom animations.
The closest thing Apex Legends currently has to third-person standing emotes are the skydive emotes, finishers, inspect-animations, and Holosprays. The most complex of the bunch is the inspect-animations, especially the ones for the Heirlooms.
However, these inspect animations are only seen through the player’s perspective, meaning others in the lobby can’t actually see the animation happening.
The skydive emotes are more like what we could potentially be seeing for the standing emotes, as other players can witness them.
In the latest gameplay trailer for Apex Legends Legacy, Wraith seems to do an interesting flip after winning an Arena match at the 2:33 mark.
This could be one of the third-person standing emotes that we could see in the future, or maybe this is an emote that players can activate after winning an Arena match. We won’t fully know until Respawn Entertainment officially announces them.
According to lead game designer Carlos Pineda, the developers were worried about introducing third-person standing emotes due to players exploiting the third-person aspect.
It seems they have dealt with this issue by implementing an anti-peek feature which will prevent players from exploiting the third-person perspective. Players will get to see the new content for Legacy when it drops on March 4th.
