Apex Legends’ Twitch viewership has reached its lowest point in years as players, streamers, and viewers shift their attention to Modern Warfare 2.

Apex Legends Season 15 brought a bunch of new content to the game, including a brand-new map, Broken Moon, and Legend Catalyst.

Usually, an update like this sees a soar in player numbers and Twitch viewership, with the community excited to play and see the new content. However, it seems many are shifting their focus to the brand-new Call of Duty release, as Modern Warfare 2 passes Respawn’s battle royale in Twitch viewership.

According to AlphaIntel, “Apex Legends’ average viewership on Twitch has dropped to its lowest level in 2 years, since October 2020.”

While Apex Legends does have a new map and seasonal content, with a Christmas event incoming, the release of Modern Warfare 2 seems to have taken viewership away from Apex, “Grabbing people’s attention” and leaving streamers playing less of Respawn’s battle royale.

At the time of writing, on Streamscharts, Apex Legends has had 168,401 peak viewers in the last seven days compared to Modern Warfare 2’s 225,585.

The difference in viewership is pretty significant, especially when you consider that Modern Warfare 2’s first season of content is yet to drop. Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 will also bring Warzone 2, which is another massive competitor for Apex, so things could get worse for Respawn in terms of viewership.

Season 15 of Apex Legends will also be the longest season that players have ever experienced, culminating on February 14. That said, it may be a while until Apex players can get their hands on new content while Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 look to thrive.
