Death Note and My Hero Academia hints found in new Apex Legends teaser
Apex Legends fans noticed some neat anime references within the new teaser dropped by Respawn, with images for My Hero Academia and Death Note, along with a few others.
Respawn Entertainment like to create hype among the Apex Legends community by sporadically releasing teasers that show off upcoming content. Now, a new one has caught the attention of fans because of its various easter eggs.
While Apex fans were initially just focusing on was the statue of a Valkyrie that has been connected to the upcoming Legend named Valk, a few eagle-eyed viewers were able to notice some hidden anime references as well.
The new Apex Legends teaser image showcased a room on a spaceship which bares close resemblance to Wattson’s room, as revealed in a previous teaser. Looking closer at the stacked shelves on the right reveals various hints.
The shelf has Portion a Nessie toy, along with the Land of the Lustrous and My Hero Academia manga. If you look at the bottom of the shelf, you can also spot a stack of Death Note chapters next to the Valkyrie statue.
These are surprising additions that the developers deliberately left in the image, and now Apex fans are speculating how this will affect the future of the battle royale.
When Apex Legends released on the Nintendo Switch, Respawn Game Director, Chad Grenier stated the Season 9 character would appeal to Japanese players. These references could be a clue about the Legend’s interest in manga.
Respawn also released weapon charms and a limited-edition Pathfinder skin for Nintendo players, which lines up with Grenier’s promise to “deliver unique content to Japan” in Apex Legends. We might see more anime-themed content added later.
The image also contains a reference to thea Apex Predators from Titanfall on a piece of paper lying on the desk. With Season 9 on the horizon, we expect plenty more surprises to come in the next few months.
