So, you might come across this error message if the servers are down or if there is an issue with your gaming platform. This error plagues players on both PC and consoles, but there are different workarounds that you can try in order to fix it.
Restart Apex Legends
The simplest solution is to close the game and then start it up again. Once that’s done, you can try logging into Apex Legends again and check if the Code 429 error message pops up on the screen again.
If you still encounter this error after trying out this method, then that means that the problem is with your connectivity and not the game itself. In that case, you’ll need to ensure that you’re connected to the internet.
Check your internet connection
The next method that you can try is restarting your router and then checking if the Apex Legends Code 429 error is still appearing in the game.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Boot up Apex Legends and enter the lobby screen
- Attempt to queue and wait for the Code 429 error
- Reboot your WIFI/router while still in-game
- Wait to reconnect to Apex Legends
- The issue should be resolved!
Check for Apex Legends updates

Here’s how you can get this done:
- Open Steam
- Go to your Library
- Select Apex Legends
- If there is an Update button instead of a Play button, you need to click that
- Wait for the update to finish downloading and then launch the game
Check the Apex Legends servers status
If you tried out the previous methods and are still encountering this error, then it’s probably an issue with the servers that Respawn Entertainment will need to fix up. Luckily, we have a great way for you to check the Apex Legends server status.
Just be patient and refresh the server status every few minutes to see if they’re back online yet. Hopefully, this will fix the problem, and you’ll be able to hop into a match of Apex Legends soon.
