NICKMERCS explains why Apex Legends takes more skill than Warzone
After jumping ship from Warzone to Apex Legends, popular content creator Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff has revealed that he finds Respawn’s battle royale the more challenging of the two.
Despite being a devoted player from the beginning, NICKMERCS announced recently he was taking a break from Warzone. He said he was becoming bored and no longer had the desire to stream the game, plus the number of hackers plaguing the lobbies were taking some of the fun away.
He has since turned his attention to Apex Legends, which he says he is enjoying more than Warzone thanks to its ranked mode. Now, as someone who has played Warzone at the highest level and is well on his way to doing so in Apex, he has revealed that the latter is the game that requires the most skill.
In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, NICKMERCS is talking to his chat about the challenge of the different games he has “dominated” in recent years, from Fortnite all the way to Apex Legends.
“I’ve been playing Apex Legends a week and a half, I’m in Diamond 4,” Nick said. “I’ll say this, Apex Legends is more difficult than Warzone.”
“You’re aiming and shooting just like Warzone, it’s positional just like Warzone, it’s awareness just like Warzone, all those things are cross-supported,” Nick continued. “But with the abilities and the timings, the possibilities are endless in Apex because of all the things you can do.”
He compares this to Warzone where he argues you simply “get in a chopper” or “get in a car” to mix things up.
NICKMERCS goes on to talk about the physical toll required to play the two for long sessions. He is known for using a controller when many professional gamers opt for a mouse and keyboard instead.
“It might sound corny, but the physical demand on your hands from playing Apex to Warzone is crazy,” he revealed. “There’s more going on, you’ve got to do more with your hands.”
Despite Apex coming out on top, the streamer also reveals that Fortnite is the “most difficult” game he has played, saying that the controller players are “f*****g insane” for the way they shoot, build and edit at the same time.
“It’s not even comparable to Apex or Warzone, Fortnite’s different,” he explains. “The physical demand to be that good…there are certain things I just can’t do. Kudos to them.”
He goes on in the video to warn his fans that he plans to stick with Apex, as he aims to reach the top as he has in other battle royales in the past.
Since making the switch, NICKMERCS has been vocal in his support of Respawn’s battle royale. He recently revealed his Apex Legends settings and spoke about a new character selection option he feels would benefit the game.
