Baldur’s Gate 3 devs share 5 most underrated multiclass builds
Larian StudiosLarian have revealed Baldur’s Gate 3’s top 20 most popular multiclass builds and highlighted 5 of them that they believe are underrated.
Baldur’s Gate 3 allows you to create whatever D&D characters you want. There are 12 classes and 46 subclasses in the game, and you can take levels in as many different classes as you want, thanks to the multiclassing feature.
As such, there are lots and lots of potential multiclass builds you can try out. If you don’t like one, just use Respec and try another.
Now, developer Larian Studios has revealed the 20 most popular multiclass combinations in Baldur’s Gate 3. They’ve also detailed five of these, which they believe are quite powerful.
Top 20 most popular multiclass builds in Baldur’s Gate 3
Larian shared the 20 most popular multiclass combos that Baldur’s Gate 3 players love to use in a PlayStation Blog post. According to them, Rogue/Ranger is the most popular, followed by Barbarian/Fighter, Barbarian/Paladin, Cleric/Paladin, and Fighter/Paladin.
The Rogue/Ranger multiclass is Baldur’s Gate 3’s version of the stealth archer build that players use in many RPGs. Both are stealth-based classes, so mixing the Ranger‘s distant-hitting capabilities with the Rogue‘s Sneak Attack bonuses makes for a potent damage-dealer. This build is also good at conversation, which is crucial for your main character.
What’s interesting is that the most common class used in eight of these builds is the Paladin. It’s always been a popular choice for D&D roleplayers as well. Paladins are versatile melee fighters who use some unique magic spells, and their high Charisma make them a prime choice for your main character.
5 most powerful multiclass builds in Baldur’s Gate 3
Larian also chose to highlight five multiclass combos that they feel are quite potent but often neglected. These are:
- Paladin/Warlock with Pact of the Blade: With this build, you end up with a character that can strike as frequently as a Fighter but as fiercely as a Paladin.
- Rogue/Monk: This build gives you a whopping 12 attacks per turn if you pick a Thief Rogue. You can also make the ultimate shinobi with a Thief Assassin.
- Tempest Cleric/Storm Sorcerer: If you’re looking to whip up a storm in Baldur’s Gate 3, this is the best possible multiclass build. You get a powerful spellcaster that can also resist melee damage quite well.
- Druid/Barbarian: A Barbarian’s Rage perfectly complements the Druid’s unique Wild Shape ability, which lets them transform into beasts.
- Sorcerer Warlock aka Sorlock: With the help of the Sorcerer’s Quickened Spell feature, you can use the potent damaging spells of the Warlock and cast them twice with this spellcaster build.
