One such quest is opening the Gilded Chest of Selune inside the Owlbear Cave. While this may seem easy at first, the chest is protected by a spell and you need a certain item to get rid of it.

Where to find the Gilded Chest of Selune in Baldur’s Gate 3

The Gilded Chest of Selune is located inside the Owlbear Cave in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can find the Owlbear Cave Northeast of the Blighted Village waypoint.

You can get to the cave by heading west from the Emerald Grove Envions waypoint. After crossing the bridge, turn right and follow the path which will directly lead you to the entrance of the cave.

Once inside, head left and you will soon come across a giant statue of Selune in front of which you will find the Gilded Chest.

How to open the Gilded Chest of Selune in Baldur’s Gate 3

As the Gilded Chest is protected by Selune’s Seal, you need to read the Selunite Prayer Sheet to unlock it. Here’s a step-by-step guide to unlocking the chest:

1. Head to the Selune statue and walk behind it to roll a passive Perception check.
2. If successful, the roll will reveal a Selunite Prayer Sheet.
3. For some reason, if you are unable to pass the passive Perception check, have your party members do it by walking behind the statue.
4. Once you have the sheet, head back to the chest.
5. Finally, open your inventory, right-click on the Selunite Prayer Sheet, and hit ‘Read.’

The Gilded Chest of Selune inside the Owlbear cave will now open.

Do note that since Shadowheart is a follower of Shar, she will refrain from reading the Selunite Prayer Sheet.

Bladur’s Gater 3 Gilded Chest of Selune rewards

Here are all the rewards you can get when you open the Gilded Chest of Selune in Baldur’s Gate 3:

• Bloodstone
• Idol of Selûne
• Moondrop Pendant (Uncommon)
• Selûnite Rite
• Silver Necklace

Wearing the Moondrop pendant grants you Writhing Dance. This stops opportunity Attacks when you have an HP of 50% or less.
