Baldur’s Gate 3 allows you to recruit random companions called Hirelings, and you can customize their appearance to your heart’s content. Here’s everything you need to know for customizing Hirelings in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has a wide cast of companions you can encounter on your journey across the Sword Coast. They each have their own backstory, can be played as Origin characters, and even have their own builds. However, if you don’t like some of them for some reason or just want a playthrough without any of them, you can get custom companions instead.

They’re called Hirelings, and as their name suggests, they can be hired for a fee. When the game was launched, these Hirelings came with a random name and appearance, and they couldn’t be customized. However, since then, Larian have introduced several updates, making the process much easier and personalized.

With the latest update, you can customize your Hirelings’ appearance from the moment you hire them. So here’s how you can customize Hirelings in Baldur’s Gate 3.

With the latest update to Baldur’s Gate 3, you can customize the appearance of your Hireling when you recruit them. By talking to Withers, you can choose from 12 different Hirelings for a meager 100 Gold.

There’s also another way to alter their appearance at any time using the Magic Mirror in your camp. This was another highly-requested feature that Larian Studios added in a post-launch update. Simply select the Hireling whose appearance you want to change and then select the Magic Mirror while controlling them.
