Baldur's Gate 3 Shadowheart in the Nautiloid

Baldur’s Gate 3 players might be surprised to know that they can get one of the most powerful swords in the game even before the start of Act 1. Here’s what you need to do to get the “Everburn Blade” in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has plenty of Legendary weapons that are a must-have before facing the Mind Flayers in Act 3. While most of the most powerful gear can be found in the later stages of the game, there’s one incredible sword that can be obtained during the first scenes of the game.

The “Everburn Blade” is the fire-imbued sword that you’ll see Commander Zhalk using while fighting off the Mind Flayers that have kidnapped every person in the Nautiloid during the Prologue. While it might be very difficult to face him, it’s not impossible with the right strategy.

Here’s everything you need to know to get the “Everburn Blade” in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to get the “Everburn Blade” in Baldur’s Gate 3?

You can get the “Everburn Blade” in Baldur’s Gate 3 during the game’s prologue, where you’ll see Commander Zhalk fighting off the Mind Flayer in charge of the Nautiloid who kidnapped you.

Baldur's Gate 3 Tadpole
During the Prologue, you’ll see how Lae’zel is infected with the Mind Flayers tadpole.

While you won’t be able to fight against this demon head-on, there’s a method to get him to drop his sword. Here’s what you need to do to get the “Everburn Blade”:

  1. First rescue Shadowheart from the Mind Flayer’s pod. You can do this by heading into the room left of her pod, and searching the body you’ll find for an Eldritch Rune. Then you should use it to interact with the pod’s console to set her free.
  2. Go to her Inventory, and then select her Spellbook. There, you’ll be able to change one of her spells for the “Command” enchantment.
  3. Find the room where the Mind Flayer and Commander Zhalk are fighting each other. Try getting a character as close as possible to the console, and another close to the demon.
  4. Use “Command” with Shadowheart for the demon to drop the “Everburn Blade.”
  5. Quickly pick up the sword, and then use the Nautiloid’s console to end the scene.

And that’s everything on how to get the “Everburn Blade” in Baldur’s Gate 3 prologue. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ RPG, you can check our guides below:
