Baldur’s Gate 3: How to get Us companion
Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has a lot of party members to recruit including Us, the Intellect Devourer. So, here’s how to get Us as a companion in Baldur’s Gate 3.
In Baldur’s Gate 3 you can find Companions across all three acts of the game, but the decisions that you make have an impact on their recruitment.
Us is among the many companions to recruit in Baldur’s Gate 3, who is an Intellect Devourer pet that you encounter early on your adventure. So, here’s what you need to do to recruit Us.
How to find Us companion in Baldur’s Gate 3
You first come across Us during the Intro Act in Baldur’s Gate 3, aboard the Mindflayer’s Nautiloid. During the Escape the Nautiloid mission, as you enter the second room, take the elevator platform and interact with the dying elf called Myrnath.
You will soon observe a moving brain, and beckoning you to save ‘them.’ You will be presented with the following options:
- INVESTIGATION: Inspect the exposed brain.
- STRENGTH: Break the skull.
- DEXTERITY: Gently prise the brain from the skull.
- Destroy the brain.
- Leave.
To recruit Us in Baldur’s Gate 3, it is important to select options 1 to 3, and when prompted with another two options called ‘Mutilate the brain’ and ‘Spare the creature,‘ you must pick the second.
This will make ‘Us’ join you as a temporary companion. It will aid you in combat and serve as extra muscle to help you on your escape. When you finish the ‘Escape the Nautiloid’ mission, you will lose track of the Intellect Devourer for the time being.
How to recruit Us companion in Baldur’s Gate 3
Us re-appears at the end of Act 2/Beginning of Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3 when completing the ‘Attack on Moonrise Towers’ mission. To find Us, you must first fight Ketheric Thorm in the Rooftop of the Tower. Here’s how to proceed after that:
- After the cutscene, jump through the hole made by the giant tentacle, and you’ll find yourself in the Mindflayer Colony below the Tower.
- Follow the map ahead and turn slightly to the left to the ‘Morgue’ of the Colony. There, you will see a Bugbear named Chop.
- Convince him to release the bad Kitty, or fight him and kill him, and he will hand you the key to unlocking the cage where Us is trapped.
- The Intellect Devourer will give you an Item in return for its freedom. You’ll then be able to summon Us, so it can follow you as a partner.
Us will only follow the character that invoked it, and when entering ‘friendly areas’ it will disguise itself as a cat, to avoid suspicion. It is a level 4 Aberration, with 55 HP, and 12 Ac, so it’s pretty much a punching bag, but it has Resistance to Necrotic Damage, Darkvision, and the ‘Small’ hidden trait you can use to interact with certain Burrows and Holes structures outside combat.
