Larian StudiosThe Ooze Monster in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a hidden companion that is easily missed when traveling through Faerun. However, it can become a great ally while battling the Mind Flayers, so here’s how to recruit and summon the hidden Ooze Monster in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has a long list of pet companions and summons you can recruit to stop the Mind Flayers’ invasion. While you can recruit some fairly easily, as with Scratch or the Owlbear cub, others are hidden through the map.
The Ooze Monster is a great creature to recruit since its shapeshifting abilities turn it into a powerful being and has especially strong long-range attacks. However, this pet companion is one of the most difficult to summon, since you can easily miss your chance to interact with it if you’re not paying close attention.
Here’s everything on how to recruit and summon the Ooze Monster in Baldur’s Gate 3.
What is the Ooze Monster in Baldur’s Gate 3?
The Ooze Monster of Baldur’s Gate 3 is disguised as the Strange Ox, an animal you can find several times in different parts of Faerun.
You’ll first find the Strange Ox in the Emerald Grove in Act 1, along with two other oxen at the entrance of the Druid’s Sanctuary. You’ll get to interact with it if you can use the “Speak With Animals” spell, use the Potion of Animal Speaking, or transform into an animal (if you’re a Druid).
If you can pass a quick Arcana Check while speaking with it, you’ll notice something strange about the animal, although it won’t admit it.
You’ll find it again in the Last Light Inn in Act 2, in the stable near Dammon’s shop. The Strange Ox will try to dismiss you immediately, but if you insist, it will turn into a huge Ooze Monster and attack you. However, if you haven’t angered it, you’ll be able to recruit him as a companion later.
