Baldur’s Gate 3 player adds iconic feline D&D race with mod
Larian StudiosWhile Larian Studios are hard at work developing its cross-platform mod system, a player has developed an interesting mod that could introduce the Tabaxi to Faerun.
Baldur’s Gate 3‘s world was inspired by the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons, and most of its systems recreate its rules. That’s why a fan felt that Larian Studios’ RPG could have space for one of its most iconic races and shared with the community that was working to introduce them to Faerun.
In the game’s subreddit, a user named “cobalt_owl” shared a model of a Tabaxi character and showed a picture of how this race would be shown in the character creation menu. The player explained that they were waiting for Baldur’s Gate 3 official mod tools to be released to finally get a playable version of the much-beloved race.
“There are definitely still some parts that need improvement- and once the modding tools are out, I’m really hoping those will let me compile some custom materials with anisotropy to give the fur more of that satin-like quality. But I think it’s off to a pretty good start,” described the player.
Tabaxi is a popular race of humanoid cats that were created by the Cat Lord in the universe of D&D. They are extremely curious creatures whose main objective is to collect artifacts and gather stories, which makes them excellent adventurers.
Larian Studios confirmed that they are working on an official cross-platform mod support, and if everything goes according to plan, it could be ready before the end of 2024. This would not only allow players to make all kinds of custom mods, but fans could use them in every console Baldur’s Gate 3 is on.
For those who can’t wait so long to try out the Tabaxi in Baldur’s Gate 3, “Cobalt_owl” promises that they are hard at work turning this race into companions and that they will release the full version publicly on the Nexus Mods website in April 2024.
And that’s everything about the mod that will introduce the Tabaxi in Baldur’s Gate 3.
