Baldur’s Gate 3 player discovers genius trick to recruit Minthara as a good character
Larian StudiosIn Baldur’s Gate 3, Minthara is one of the most difficult characters to recruit, mainly because it requires you to be tremendously evil. Fans of Minthara and good alignment players have a reason to celebrate, as one player has found a way to recruit her without turning into a mass murderer.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game that has a lot of room for roleplay, but it also forces you to make difficult choices. One of those decisions sets you on diverging paths by either siding with Halsin and saving the Druid Grove, or siding with Minthara and slaying every single druid and refugee.
For most BG3 players, these companions can only be recruited if you are good, in the case of Halsin, or if you are evil, in the case of Minthara. Now, a Baldur’s Gate 3 player has found a roundabout way to recruit both characters, while keeping your legal good playthrough.
A player named pao870111 in Baldur’s Gate 3 discovered this when experimenting with the polymorph spell. After a few runs of the game as an evil character, they decided to try and experiment with alternative ways to recruit Minthara without having to slaughter the whole druid grove.
This whole strategy was found by Reddit user ZookeepergameDeep360, who took the work to translate everything and shared it with the community in the following post.
To accomplish this, players first need to take down Minthara in the Goblin Fortress without killing her. Then, finish Halsin’s request to stop the Goblin leaders. Moving back to the fortress will reveal that Minthara has “respawned,” and remains alive.
Players then need to level up two spellcasters to level 7, one with the Polimorph spell and the second one, with the Dominate Beast spell. Once in Act 2, players need to discover the Moonrise towers teleport, return to the Goblin Fortress, and engage Minthara again.
After this, they need to use the Polimorph spell to turn her into a sheep, then the Dominate Beast spell to make her an ally. Then carry her back to Moonrise Towers in Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3 via teleport, step into the room with Minthara turned into a sheep, either by pushing her gently or carrying her into the room.
This will trigger the Minthara’s Trial scene where Ketheric Thorm ends up sending her to jail, in the form of a sheep. If players keep showing themselves as allies or Ketheric, this will give them the chance to rescue Minthara from the prison, and then, by following the right dialogue choices, recruit her at last.
What’s strange about this strategy, is that no one knows for sure if it is a bug, or if it was calculated, as the scene with Minthara as a sheep doesn’t seem to cause any trouble or crash.
Something similar happened with a player unlocking an extremely rare feline ending, which seems to point to Larian Devs probably contemplating these random factors among the possible things that may happen in the game.
