Baldur’s Gate 3 player finds clever trick to deactivate Counting House glyphs after 1300 hours

Minsc reveals himself in Baldur's Gate 3

A Baldur’s Gate 3 player has discovered an easier way to traverse the Counting House vault and take anything you want without worrying about the protection glyphs.

When you enter the bank in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will have likely been tasked with a mission to enter the vaults. After some Charisma checks (or through brute force) you can get a vault pass which allows you to descend to where everybody stores their riches.

There are a few rooms you can explore before reaching the main area where your quest would take place. On the left of the second corridor you walk down once you enter the main vault is a little room with personal vaults. There is, however, a catch: there are two glyphs that cover the floor of the room. If you step on one of them, you will simply be teleported outside of the room.

This makes it challenging to reach the personal vaults to open them and see what riches lie in store. One player, however, has finally discovered how to deactivate them.

“So I’m going through the bank vault, looting the place (as one does),” ‘fieatsbees’ posted to Reddit. “I’ve got Astarion equipped with tons of the teleporting arrows and also some dimension door scrolls. And I see [the buttons] on the wall. So I do the normal thing and shoot them with arrows. AND THEY DEACTIVATED. THE GLYPH THINGS.”

On the wall in between the vaults, you can see two buttons. These would obviously be difficult to reach without using something like Misty Step or painfully walking around to get to them. So, the OP decided to shoot arrows at the buttons, and to their surprise, the glyphs deactivated – allowing them to walk around the room freely.

More Baldur’s Gate 3 players commented about how they did not know this would work. One fan said, “You mean you’re not just supposed to badly jump around, break into one vault, give up and leave?”

This was also not an obvious find for most players. As mentioned, some had over 700 hours of playtime, or had played their fifth to sixth playthroughs, and had not discovered this hack.

If you have not discovered these buttons, do keep in mind that you need to pass a Perception check for them to light up in view. If you fail that check, though, the buttons do remain visible for the player who knows they are there.
