A Baldur’s Gate 3 player came across a massive, powerful enemy that they never encountered before in their previous playthroughs, despite sinking 500 hours into the game

Baldur’s Gate 3 has tons of unique enemies all brought in from D&D lore, and there are plenty of boss fights as well. Some of these bosses can be defeated without a scratch, while others can be frustratingly difficult if your party isn’t powerful enough. However, some of these bosses are so rare players are only discovering them after multiple playthroughs.

A Baldur’s Gate 3 player named ‘Dreadedreamer’ on Reddit has made a surprising discovery after spending over 500 hours in the game. They came across an enemy in the Gauntlet of Shar that they had never seen before — a Justiciar Crusader. While this enemy isn’t exactly new, it’s quite rare for it to spawn in the game.

When you’re inside the Gauntlet of Shar, you’ll be repeatedly attacked by undead Dark Justiciars. They’ll be coming in through portals called Umbral Tremors, and a rare few of these can spawn a Justiciar Crusader. In their latest playthrough, the OP decided to turn invisible and watch Balthazar’s minions being attacked by the undead Justiciars.

“After a few turns, outta nowhere, a huge 10-foot-tall Shar crusader spawns with 200 health, smashing apart skeletons and ghouls like flies, then turning into shadow-form when at half health,” they explained. The OP’s post got over 7,200 upvotes, and many Baldur’s Gate 3 players seemed eager to find it.

One player mentioned how they’d be leaving the portals open just to witness this unique enemy. Meanwhile, another added, “Right? All I read was ‘Big enemy, more XP.'” However, ‘Derekthemindsculptor’ explained that “it’s not just one of the portals. It’s specifically the large one with like triple the HP after a couple rounds of combat.”

‘Madam_Sheriru’ explained how they found another unique enemy in the game if you attack Helsik. “She spawns unique enemies to attack you, like golden armored Minotaurs,” they added. Other players suggested using the Oathbreaker Paladin’s Control Undead to turn the Justiciar Crusader into an ally.

Baldur’s Gate 3 players have often found new things in the game after spending countless hours in it. Some players made a list of the “rarest and easiest to miss” items in the game, whereas others missed out on a seemingly obvious NPC trait.
