Baldurs Gate 3 player furious they’re “still single” in-game as romance options ghost him

While most Baldur’s Gate 3 players juggle with different romance options, a fan asked Reddit for help after reaching Act 3 without having any opportunity to seduce companions. Here’s what the BG3 community had to say about it.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is famous for introducing a wide range of companions to travel with while trying to put a stop to the Mind Flayers’ invasion. Players can easily interact with them to know more about their background and opinions on what’s happening in the adventure, and depending on their approval rate, they can try to romance them.

While Larian Studios have even faced some fans complaining about characters being “too horny,” a Reddit user managed to involuntarily dodge every opportunity for finding love. In the post “I still don’t understand why I am single,” user ‘chinchinlover-419’ asked the community for help.

“Since release, I’ve seen 50 billion different people complain about how every single character wants to f*ck you, but I just don’t get it. I am in Act 3. Almost finished the entire game, and not ONCE has anyone proposed nor have I gotten the chance to f*ck. Not even the squid wants me,” described the OP.

Most fans found the post hilarious and commented on the thread with every single joke they could think so. “Thou walkest alone. All those harsh cold nights, and thou hast sought no company. And thus thou art alone,” said user ‘Tavdan’ quoting what Withers says to players who choose not to romance somebody.

Romancing companion in Baldur’s Gate 3 will depend on the approval rate of the main character.

Some players suggested that they might “not get the hints” from other characters, despite the OP stating that their character was a 20+ Charisma Bard, and also tried every dialogue option. “I’m not exactly an expert when it comes to BG3 romance, but I feel like it would be pretty hard to miss’em with Gale and especially Lae’zel,” said user ‘conspirized.’

Others asked if the OP was using the Long Rest option frequently, which is a usual mistake players make that leads them to miss a lot of companions’ interactions. This was one of the most probable options, but the OP described using a Long Rest as soon they used up their Short Rests, which should’ve given them both Shadowheart’s and Lae’zel’s initial romance dialogue.

A Baldur’s Gate 3 fan explained to the OP that they should start by checking the approval rate of every companion, which sometimes might be tricky to gauge. “If you constantly do something they disagree with or if you’re erratic with choices, they won’t like you enough to romance,” said user ‘Carnine_1st.”

Another Redditor agreed with this method, and also suggested that the OP might not be choosing the dialogue lines best suited for each character.

“With romancing in BG3 it’s all about understanding each individual character. Some will like it when you’re blunt regardless if it’s confrontational, others want you to be kind. Everyone is different. Your ability to develop a relationship with someone depends on choosing the right dialogue option for that particular character,” pointed out user ‘ghostyxghost.’

Sadly, OP’s romance life in Baldur’s Gate 3 might prove a disappointment, since players discovered that most of the companion’s romance interactions aren’t available anymore after reaching Act III.
