A Baldur’s Gate 3 player had the cruel but hilarious idea to make their Dark Urge character’s Guardian look exactly like Alfira the Bard.

When you’re done with designing your character in Baldur’s Gate 3, you also get to decide what your ‘Guardian’ looks like.

Their looks aren’t that important in the grand scheme of things, but you’ll frequently see them throughout Acts 1 and 2. As such, giving them odd features might end up making some serious situations look funny.

One Baldur’s Gate 3 player had the bright idea to make the Guardian look just like Alfira the Bard, but the icing on the cake is that they did it on their Dark Urge playthrough.

If you’re unaware, Alfira plays a key role during this Origin story. The character shows up at your camp, wanting to join you, and on the same night, your character ends up killing her, with no recollection of the deed itself.

This happens fairly early on in Act 1, and your Dream Visitor, the Guardian, shows up right after this. Now, imagine if they were visually identical to Alfira. It would seem as if they’re mocking your Dark Urge character, which is ironic, considering how they claim to be your friend.

A Redditor named ‘starlessseasailor’ made their Guardian look like Alfira and they posted about it on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit.

Their caption read, “Had this idea after I realized I always get my guardian interactions after a certain bard pays a visit, thought it would be extra f***ed of a certain squid to do and sure enough it’s proving to be really fun.”

Most loved the idea, with comments like, “This is evil and absolutely genius at the same time.” One user had an ever darker idea, as they added, “Love it. For bonus guilt, be a bard and sing together on that faithful night. She’ll haunt you forever.” Meanwhile, some users came up with the most twisted interaction possible — romancing the Guardian in their Alfira form.

Another comment read, “bonus for romancing the emperor and having him take the guardian form,” while another added that this was the “secret ‘Alfira romance’ scene.”

Others came up with even more twisted ideas. One user wrote: “Alternatively, now that we have Magic Mirror, we could become Alfira after that fateful night.” Patch 3 for Baldur’s Gate 3 adds the Magic Mirror, which allows you to change your looks.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 community comes up with such clever ideas every now and then. For instance, someone decided to swap out all the companions’ noses with Lae’zel’s. Meanwhile, another found a hilarious trick to kill NPCs who get too close.
