The Hag in Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 fans are on the lookout for every secret hidden in Faerun and were amazed after they discovered how to trigger the Hag’s hidden dialogue. Here’s what the Baldur’s Gate 3 community has been talking about.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has plenty of secrets that can be unlocked with a specific skill combination, which won’t only result in getting secret rewards but will also reveal a little bit of Faerun’s lore. Some players are used to casting the Speak with the Dead spell to find out more about some quests and were surprised by a sudden change in one of the game’s most recognizable bosses.

Youtuber Toyhouze shared with fans that you can cast this spell to the Hag, a character that first appears during Act 1 as Auntie Ethel. If players decide to keep her alive all the way through Act 3, they’ll have a final showdown that can quickly turn into one of the hardest battles of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Those who have chosen to kill her will be able to cast Speak with the Dead, and the Hag will talk to them despite corpses usually not being able to talk to their killers. Not only that, but she’ll appear more “lively” than other corpses and can communicate much easier than other killed characters.

According to the Youtuber, this is because she carries the “Tarnished Amulet,” an item that makes it easier for the wearer to succeed Death Saving Throws. This is a special type of Saving Throw, which a Downed character can make to avoid dying at 0 HP.

In addition, if a player chooses to loot the charm before speaking to her corpse, she won’t reveal anything to players when they ask “Do you have any regrets?” However, if she still has it in her inventory, she’ll freely answer the question.

“You can speak with her because technically she is not dead. Her soul is just waiting for her body to regenerate,” commented user ‘Demigodishe,’ and other fans further explained that Baldur’s Gate 3 implies that her soul can’t move on from planes since it’s attached thanks to the amulet’s powers.

Some Baldur’s Gate 3 players wondered if this is something that could happen if they equipped the Tarnished Amulet to other corpses. However, other fans commented that it wasn’t true that the item gave her corpse more power. Instead, they thought that they were able to cast “Speak to the Death” since the Hag wasn’t really killed, and that the only way of doing that was by destroying all the items in her lair.

“‘Speak with dead’ works on her like you’re entering the mind of a person who is in a coma. This is why she speaks with you like she has a full conscience. Well, she IS in a full conscience indeed,” commented user ‘A11ie_Russo.’

And that’s everything about the Hag’s hidden dialogue in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ RPG, you can check why players advise not to kill Mizora on sight, and how fans are missing key romance options because of a simple mistake.
