Baldur’s Gate 3 player shares trick to defeat Viconia without fighting
Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is filled with interesting secrets to discover, and one player has done just that with a simple trick with Astarion to deal with The House of Grief boss, Viconia.
Baldur’s Gate 3‘s success was quite extraordinary after it went ahead and grabbed the Game of the Year title in 2023. With its brain-teasing turn-based combat and intricate storyline, BG3 is still massively popular among RPG enthusiasts, even after months since its release.
Interesting decisions and their consequences seem to be a massive aspect of Baldur’s Gate 3 as simple choices might give rise to some extremely important outcomes in the game. This is how one player has found out how to deal with Viconia quite easily in BG3.
Reddit user ‘savagegourd’ posted about this on Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit as they reportedly found another way to defeat the House of Grief boss, Viconia, without fighting. The OP admitted that they were “dreading” this fight due to Viconia’s skills, especially her damage reflect, and darkness spam.
“Tav and Shadow initiated dialogue with her, and I noticed Astarion and Gale weren’t part of it. I swapped to Astarion, didn’t even hide, just walked up to her and attacked her twice. She dropped, never taking a single action,” the OP continued as they described the fight in Baldur’s Gate 3.
The OP confessed to being quite surprised as they added: “What the f**k? That’s it? That was an option the whole f***ing time?” Other players were quite astonished as well, and one of them was quite disappointed that they “found this post right after spending about an hour in the House of Grief.”
“I should have tried that!! I always went for everyone else first so they were out of the way,” added one player as they wanted to try out the OP’s method, while others mentioned how they had no idea about this and their “mind is blown.”
Many consider the Viconia fight to be a difficult one in BG3, however, if this method works for everybody, they could bypass it rather easily. For more on Baldur’s Gate 3, check out how this “easy” boss is ending Honour Mode runs and why players believe Gale’s “god ending” is actually a bad thing.
