Larian Studios let Baldur’s Gate 3 players build their own story while traveling through Faerun. However, fans agreed that some decisions are “essential” for them no matter their alignment.

Baldur’s Gate 3 encourages players to make their own stories while wandering through Faerun to stop the Mind Flayers’ invasion. Even if Larian Studios added plenty of colorful choices to pick from, still fans unanimously admitted that there were some options that they wouldn’t change no matter how they’re roleplaying their playthrough.

In a Reddit post called “Choices you’ll never change in different playthroughs?” Baldur’s Gate 3 fans confessed the favorite decisions they wouldn’t stop making every time they played the game.

Most players agreed that saving Scratch and the owlbear cub was a must, and it seems that both adorable companions are indispensable while traveling through Faerun. “I had a friend who played a Durge run where he killed Scratch on sight, and I simply… don’t trust the guy anymore,” admitted Redditor ‘Nickcarslake.’

Others agreed that they couldn’t force Astarion to drink from the blood alchemist found in Moonrise Towers since they find it cruel even during evil playthroughs.

“I will never force my boy Astarion to bite stupid twilight fan Araj Obladra. Don’t care about the potion, there are strength elixirs anyway,” said user ‘Noctriun.’ “Yes, Karen, mental gymnastics and calling someone ‘a puppet’ who has no value without you is abuse,” agreed user ‘vengefulsprt.’

Fans also admitted to having found that the options of Baldur’s Gate 3 they couldn’t skip were the ones that lead to hilarious dialogue with companions, such as correcting Lae’zel, slapping Gale’s hand before helping him during his introduction, and, of course, dropping an entire building on Astarion to hear his angry rant.

Surprisingly, players loved a particular interaction that has become a viral meme among the Baldur’s Gate 3 community. During Act 2, users can find a dead spider carcass imbued with incubus fluid that Yurgir uses to tame his displacer beast. If they choose to lick it, they will cause Gale to react in horror and yell “Stop licking the d*mn spider!”

“I especially love doing this when romancing Gale. He says: ‘Regret your decision yet, love?'” commented user ‘smallangrynerd.’

And those are the choices Baldur’s Gate 3 fans won’t change in any playthrough. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ ARPG, you can check why players advise against playing as a wizard with Gale in your party or everything new coming with Hotfix 16.
