Baldur’s Gate 3 players are accidentally hoarding useful item
Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are able to give Karlach Soul Coins to make her more powerful, but they keep forgetting to give them to her.
Soul Coins in Baldur’s Gate 3 are items forged of Infernal Iron. A soul has been bound to them, hence the name they are given. They’re a currency used in the Hells, but mostly they can be given to Karlach to help her obtain Infernal Fury.
Infernal Fury is a condition Karlach receives that makes her attacks deal an extra 1d4 fire damage when she is Raging or when she gets below 25% of her health. All in all, the buff is small, but it can make all the difference when you’re in a fight.
A lot of players, however, forget about them in their playthroughs. Redditor ‘Belaerim’ posted about their experience with this: “I had used a pouch looted off the beach right in the beginning of Act 1 to hold her “special” items like Infernal Iron, and… Soul Coins,” they said. “I started putting Soul Coins in that pouch as soon as I started looting Wither’s crypt, even before making it to the Grove, with the full intention of using them on boss fights.”

More Baldur’s Gate 3 players confirmed that they had also forgotten to give Soul Coins to Karlach. The main issue, it seems, is that players hoard all the items they can and get overwhelmed with how many options they have to get through fights.
“Buddy the list of consumables and one-off abilities I forget to use could fill a vault in Ramazith’s tower,” a fan commented.
Beyond that, though, the issue becomes more prominent when fans play as Karlach, because then she doesn’t remind you to give her Soul Coins. It doesn’t seem like that would make much of a difference, though.
As another player said, “I’m on my third playthrough, mid Act 3. I used the first Soul Coin yesterday. Let’s see how long it takes me to remember doing that again.”
So, if you’re among those who forget to give Karlach her Soul Coins, know that you’re not alone. Thankfully, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives players many character build options, so it shouldn’t affect you too much overall.
