Baldur’s Gate 3 players blown away by last-minute Honour Mode rescue
Larian StudiosDuring a cooperative online session, a Baldur’s Gate 3 player managed an impressive last-minute rescue, and fans are going crazy about this feat.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Honour Mode is unmerciful and challenging, and many players have fallen victim to its tremendously taxing combat and even more hard-to-make choices. Be it that you face the mischievous Auntie Ethel or one of the big bad evils in the game, BG3 will always surprise you.
For these players, the element of surprise was key to managing a last-minute save during an Honour Mode run where one of them saved the whole party from total annihilation in the most unlikely way.
This was posted in the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit by ‘Sadeindustries,’ who shared with the community how their friend saved the team from obliteration by escaping the fight, just to come back with reinforcements.
This Baldur’s Gate 3 player said: “Friend just did something amazing in our Honour mode run,” and then proceeded to explain: “We’re in the middle of an insanely tense fight with the paladins hunting Karlach. Went in at level 3, the main guy insta drops two of our PCs (oh oh.)”
The OP further explained how they managed to survive the ordeal: “This friend (who’s got over 150 hrs in the game) is smart enough to get the distance to disengage, and he successfully revives one of us at Withers (I was stabilized so stuck in a weird combat round loop with no one doing anything).”
In the end, the OP’s friend was able to save the day in the most unlikely way: they didn’t know how to use a simple spell scroll, so they threw it at the enemy, and with the help of Lady Tymora (goddess of luck) they defeated the encounter.
The community was overjoyed by this last-minute save, and these were some of the comments they posted to celebrate: “I CAST BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA” While another player expressed: “That’s not a spe-! CRACK.”
From another point of view, this was a pretty ‘Barbarian-way’ to solve a combat phase, as one of the players said: “Sounds like something my int 8 sorc would do.” Reddit user ‘Flimsy-Preparation85’ also commented: “Barbarian: I’m so proud.”
