Baldur’s Gate 3 players call out Min/Max Paladins who claim game’s too easy
Larian StudiosLarian Studios have been receiving several requests from players who claim that even the hardest difficulty setting is still “too easy.” Here’s what the Baldur’s Gate 3 community had to say about it.
Baldur’s Gate 3 most difficult game mode is Tactician, which poses an interesting setting for those players who love a challenge and have some D&D background knowledge. However, fans have been calling out those who demand Larian Studios to make “the game harder” while playing the game with a specific build.
In a post called “Play how you want, but I’ve noticed a certain type of player,” Redditor ‘StapMyVitals’ pointed out that fans who have been requesting a harder game mode are the same type of player that choose Min/Maxed Paladin characters.
In D&D, to Min/Max a character is to assign every skill point, attribute, and feats to maximize a particularly strong ability. By doing so, they get rid of everything else that would be essential to role-play a “realistic” character.
While some Baldur’s Gate 3 fans argue that there are a lot of builds that make the game a “cakewalk” on Tactician mode, others think that players using guides or spamming “overpowered abilities” aren’t exactly role-playing as the game intends users to.
Some players were adamant about the idea that Larian Studios could have added a harder difficulty setting since some users can complete it without even recruiting companions or playing with friends. “I genuinely don’t understand how people aren’t finding the game too easy. You don’t need to min-max to absolutely wreck house. You just need to read what things do and utilize some of it,” pointed out Redditor ‘Oafah.’
Despite the debate, most users agreed that even playing “as intended,” builds as Open Hand Tavern Brawler Monk become too powerful for any quest very quickly. “I feel a little called out, this build is carrying me on tactician right now… But at least I am fully cognizant of it being broken and that I would probably not get through it without it,” commented Redditor ‘SmithOfLie.’
“While there are a handful of super broken builds out there, I think the real frustration comes from folks thinking (or hoping?) that BG3 is a game that was designed around difficulty and challenge,” concluded Redditor ‘The URPigeon,’ but also added: “It isn’t. It’s a narrative game with those things sprinkled throughout to change up the pace and hold your interest.”
And that’s everything on why Baldur’s Gate 3 fans are calling out Min/Max Paladins who claim to need a more difficult setting while traveling through Faerun.
