Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim Patch 3 “ruined the game” with new shared stash
Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are now struggling to maintain their inventories as a result of the shared stash feature from the Patch 3 update.
Patch 3 for Baldur’s Gate 3 has arrived with quite a lot of improvements and requested features. Apart from fixing bugs and improving performance, it also introduces the Magic Mirror, a feature that allows you to change your character’s looks. The game is also finally available on Mac now.
However, many players are now complaining about a change to the inventory management system. With the latest update, quest items from dismissed party members are now sent to your main character instead. As such, many players are now finding it hard to manage their inventory.
Larian made the shared stash update to ensure that quest items in the inventory of dismissed party members transferred properly without needing to recruit them again. But players have been finding it quite tedious instead and have taken their complaints to social media.
Baldur’s Gate 3 players annoyed after shared stash update makes game unplayable
Following Patch 3, Reddit user Sylph777 took to the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit to complain that the shared stash has “ruined the game.” The post has received over 5,000 upvotes and a ton of comments in agreement.
They wrote that they “don’t want to play without sorting items into bags, it’s a giant untenable mess.” According to them, this makes their character a mule who has to carry their dismissed companions‘ bags and pouches.
Meanwhile, the top comment which received over 4,400 upvotes, said, “It’s legit annoying now that whenever I change out a character it give me their camp supply and alchemy pouch etc. I do not want it. I have my own. Keep it with them!”
“If they want to improve something, just let me access their inventories while in camp, without having them in the party. Not playing hot potato with items,” they continued. Another commenter agreed, saying, “It’s a bad solution to a problem a small percentage of players imposed on themselves.”
According to them, the majority of players are now suffering due to a problem only a few players had. One user suggested that Larian remove the weight from keys, herbs, and camping supplies. They continued that a shared stash could then automatically collect all of these items regardless of who picked them up.
Players on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Steam Forums expressed similar opinions about the shared stash update. One user wrote, “I was hoping it was a bug or something because if they did this on purpose… just why? Super annoying.” Another of Larian’s games, Divinity Original Sin 2, also suffered from similar inventory issues, which they attempted to fix with an added feature, but players didn’t like it.
