Baldur’s Gate 3 players convinced devs are trolling with “hilarious” Act 1 choice
Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 devs have hidden many secrets throughout the game, and a player found a “hilarious” decision you can make in Act 1 that you may have missed.
Baldur’s Gate 3 players have not shied away from playing the game time and again. Especially because it allows so many different choices, players have found the replayability of Baldur’s Gate 3 to be some of the best you can find.
Most of the time, in the second, third, and even fourth playthroughs, you will find new things that you missed in your first. A lot of these are based on the more serious story-driven decisions, but sometimes something funny will pop up to the player’s delight.
In one of the earliest areas of the game, you find a Deep Gnome tied to a windmill being tortured by Goblins. Either by fight or persuasion, you can get them to leave the Gnome alone and save him from turning around the windmill constantly.
Previously, you would have to go to the back of the windmill and pull on a lever to stop the windmill, allowing you to free the Gnome safely. However, Baldur’s Gate 3 is renowned for having multiple ways to deal with a situation, and this is no different.
Reddit user ‘RD_Life_Enthusiast’ posted on about this find. “The first item in area search looting was the release brake lever. IT CHUCKS HIM INTO THE F****G STRATOSPHERE. Oh my God, Larian – seriously? I laughed about that for the next 15 minutes. I was unhappy about having to load a save and replay about 15 minutes of prior content (edit: so I could actually save him), but TOTALLY WORTH IT.”
Fans congregated in the comment section of the post, laughing along with the OP and sharing their own experience with the find. “I think the majority of us in our first playthrough launched the gnome into orbit by mistake,” a player said in the thread. “But it’s certainly one of the first memorable, hilarious ‘oh sh*t!’ moments of the game lol.”
Some fans who had gone through this section in early access noted that this change came with the release of the game, indicating that Larian Studios did this to “troll” players.
“I am 100% certain they put the word ‘release’ on that lever knowing a lot of players wouldn’t think it through, and would just automatically hit the one that they thought meant ‘release the captive,’” a player added to the thread. “So good.”
