Baldur’s Gate 3 players delighted as Karlach gets ending she deserves
Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 devs added a new Karlach ending in which she survives the final battle, and players are quite happy that one of their favorite companions finally got the ending she deserved.
Baldur’s Gate 3‘s focus on branching storylines and adding consequences to almost every decision has not only helped to turn it into a huge success but also put its name in the books of the all-time greats. Alongside its fulfilling storytelling, credit has also been given to its character design as well.
With a large number of players going for a good ending in their first run, some players were quite surprised with Karlach‘s ending, as it was contrary to the belief that she always has a negative outcome. Some players could not even believe it and were left surprised in Baldur’s Gate 3.
This is why, Reddit user ‘Mahealani_Draven’ felt “lied to” as they were quite surprised to see Karlach getting a rather positive ending, contrary to what the community had been saying.
The OP clarified: “During my play through I looked at guides on stuff about Orpheus and they kept mentioning Karlach and how she doesn’t really ever have a ‘good’ or ‘happy’ ending. They kept saying she either turns into a Mind Flayer, dies, or heads back to Avernus forever. I was like damn that’s my favorite companion but it was all lies!”
However, they found out that Karlach returns alongside Wyll if players send him with her into Avernus “with good news,” which they felt was the “perfect ending” to Karlach’s storyline in Baldur’s Gate 3. “I’m so happy the guides were out of date,” said a player as well.
“If you romance her like I did you go to hell with her and y’all find the blueprint, honestly caused me to not be able to do another run for a while. I fell in love with her character so much my real-life wife got jealous,” added another player.
Karlach’s “good” ending was added in Patch 5, as the devs were likely bombarded with requests to save her in Baldur’s Gate 3. Previously, the only two options Karlach had were to either die or become a Mind Flayer at the end of the game.
