Baldur’s Gate 3 players explain essential Shadowheart spell you should always have

Baldur’s Gate 3 players reveal which of Shadowheart’s spells has to be a part of every playthrough, especially while getting through the Shadowlands in Act 2.

Shadowheart is undoubtedly one of the best companions to have in your party during Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s not only that she’s crucial for understanding everything that’s going on in the Gauntlet of Shar, but she also has one of the best skills to survive traveling through the Shadow-Cursed Lands.

This shadow-ridden area is filled with enemies waiting to ambush every party and can be especially difficult since the whole map deals environmental damage. That’s why players agreed that Shadowheart’s Spirit Guardians spell is a “godsend,” particularly when trying to stop Flaming Fist Marcus from abducting Isobel in the Last Light Inn fight.

You can get Shadowheart’s Spirit Guardian spell as soon as she reaches Level 3 which allows her to call forth spirits to protect the area around her. These guardians also deal up to 23 Radiant damage per turn to every enemy close to the cleric and halve their movement speed.

While most fans said that they wouldn’t have survived the Shadow-Cursed Lands if it weren’t for this skill others complained that this Light domain spell doesn’t fit with Shadowheart’s lore as a Sharran Cleric.

“It’s allowed in the game technically but it’s the opposite of Shar. Since you can find a list of the Clerics that have been sent out by the mother superior and Shadowheart is listed as a healer, I could argue for the Life domain (still kind of iffy though with Shar),” read a comment.

This technical issue hasn’t stopped players from praising Spirit Guardians, since it’s also a showstopper when trying to protect Halsin’s portal from cursed enemies. “Just imagine having a College of Lore Bard as well in your party, also with Spirit Guardians. A bard can also perform disable traps and lock-picking duties, as well as having high charisma for trading. Just saying ;),” added a player.

Spirit Guardians isn’t the only spell that works great against the Shadow-Cursed Lands, but having The Blood of Lathander equipped is also great for most Shadowheart builds in Baldur’s Gate 3.
