Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is not only strategizing the best way to overcome difficult enemies, as the game throws some difficult puzzles your way for interesting rewards and items. The Brain puzzle, which is widely recognized as the hardest in the game, may make you a little more frustrated than usual.
The Mind Flayer Colony at the end of Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3 has quite a few important story moments, but you can find some interesting things when you take the time to explore. One of these is the Brain Puzzle just past the Necrotic Library.
When you reach it, you find yourself face-to-face with a strange connection of nodes that you need to reconnect. As you approach the console, you will be asked to manipulate the brain, and you can start trying to figure it out.
Players have found this puzzle particularly difficult, with one describing their experience as quite arduous in a post on Reddit titled “Finally defeated hardest boss yet.”
“After a long arduous battle overcoming a level 5 confusion spell and enduring 4 psychic damage with three additional turns of mental fatigue I am proud to say I finally defeated the most bullsh*t boss yet with no spell slots left,” ‘Groundhog_Gary28’ shared.
Players in the comments immediately sympathized with the OP, saying that their experience with the puzzle was quite similar – one player specifically saying “That one was sooooooo annoying!” This was especially true for console players, who were having a difficult time choosing the correct nodes with a controller.
To try and help ease the frustration of Baldur’s Gate 3 players, many shared tips that could easily help you solve the Brain puzzle.
BG3 players reveal how to easily solve Brain puzzle
While there is no one surefire method to get the Brain puzzle solved, Baldur’s Gate 3 players revealed that you need to have some patience, make sure you choose the correct nodes for each part of the Brain, and don’t be scared to switch between them.
“Start from the beginning. Look at the options for each color. One color can only go in one direction, so select that,” one player explained.
“Then look again. Oh, there is only one color that CAN go in this direction, so select that. then look again. You can logically solve it step by step by eliminating possibilities,” they continued.
Another tip a fan shared was to make sure you take your time to connect each node and switch between the colors. “For those who struggle with this puzzle, remember that you can switch branch and advance each branch one step at a time, with this technique you just cannot fail,” they said.
A lot of players found that the effort to work through this puzzle was worth it, especially considering the rewards you get when the door behind the Brain Puzzle opens:
- A brain jar containing a Waking Mind which can give you a nice buff if you use it at the Mind-Archive Interface.
- The Blade of Oppressed Souls.
