Baldur’s Gate 3 players sick of repeatedly losing “rigged” Honour Mode fight

Luck has always been a major factor in Baldur’s Gate 3, but one fight is simply proving to be too much for Honor Mode runners as some of them even resort to skipping it completely.

Baldur’s Gate 3‘s turn-based combat has been one of the most challenging aspects for players who are new to D&D’s style of gameplay. However, after the introduction of the Honour Mode, even veteran players bite the dust in front of the omnipotent dice mechanic.

Although there are some great fights in Baldur’s Gate 3 that require some decent strategy, one fight has been a thorn for many players in Honour Mode, and it is arguably one of the most important ones in Act 2.

Reddit user ‘MichaelOxlong18’ posted about this in the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit as they made an “Honour Mode Isobel rant,” as they were quite unhappy with how Isobel died so easily in their run. “Marcus max rolls initiative (beats Gale) and crits her TWICE” added the OP as Isobel was killed soon after with another max roll in their playthrough.

Protecting Isobel in Act 2 has always been a major aspect of players who are on a good run, as she is the only reason the Last Light Inn stands unshaken in the Shadow Cursed Lands. However, if Marcus successfully takes away Isobel, the entire inn falls victim to the dreadful shadow curse.

“I always cast sanctuary on her to at least have 1 safe turn, but she’s like 3 AC or the dice really hate her,” added another player claiming Isobel must just be extremely unlucky with her rolls in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, some players were so fed up that they even decided to skip this fight entirely.

“Honestly, I’m not sure what I am missing in skipping this fight, but I just never talk to Isobel at the inn,” added a player as they wanted no part of the fight. They claimed: “It is entirely skippable, seemingly without consequence, and saves me from a real slog of a turn order.”

“I could swear that Marcus’ dice are rigged to crit on his opening attack,” claimed another player as they were confused with other critical attacks as well. “These Moonrise mooks are getting crit smites multiple times in combat? Come on game,” they continued.

Isobel is one of the most important characters in the game and many players aim to keep her safe if they do not wish to side with Ketheric in Act 2.
