Baldur’s Gate 3 is inspired by the huge lore of 5E D&D, and it has included some very specific interactions that reveal some lore about Faerun’s society. Here’s what the Baldur’s Gate3 community said about them.

Faerun in Baldur’s Gate 3 has an extensive backstory that introduces players to the complex relationship between different factions. While trying to put a stop to the Mind Flayers’ invasion, NPCs and Companions have special interactions with players depending on which background they’ve chosen.

Larian Studios gave life to their latest RPG thanks to small details that acknowledge the players’ decisions. Most are based on how they’d manage to solve quests, but users were especially amazed by how both dialogue and the overall attitude of a character can change based on the main character’s race.

In a Reddit post called “Reactions to your race that caught you off guard,” players rallied to comment on which lines surprised the most. “I usually try to resolve the standoff between Zevlor and Aradin (during Act 1) peacefully, but playing as a dragonborn I just got fed up and knocked Aradin out, and he stood up and said something like ‘As if my day wasn’t bad enough already, now I get sucker punched by a lizard,’ Redditor ‘semicolonconscious’ said.

Baldur’s Gate 3 fans had previously pointed out that choosing a Drow in Baldur’s Gate 3 completely changed their characters’ interactions, especially when talking with Tieflings during Act 1. “I mostly am surprised by the racists remarks right in my Drow’s face. You know, making a disgusted face while talking about Drow and my character is just standing right there,” described user ‘MSTater85.’

NPCs like Auntie Ethel or Halsin also have specific interactions with each race. While the druid has a strong prejudice against Drows, Auntie Ethel has race-specific lines to insult players when using “Vicious Mockery.”

Different races unlock special dialogue interactions, but players also commented that choosing to play as a Gith usually gets completely ignored. Even if their race isn’t something common to find in Faerun since they’re Astral-Plane dwellers, characters are only amazed by Lae’zel and Githyankis that appear during Act 2.
