Baldur’s Gate 3 players want “final party” feature to wrap up story
Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players feel that the game’s ending feels abrupt and are disappointed at not having a final party where they can chat with their companions. Here’s what Baldur’s Gate 3 fans have been talking about.
Baldur’s Gate 3, unlike certain open-world RPGs such as Skyrim, ends abruptly once you fight the final boss. There’s no way to keep going once you do the final mission, as the game goes through a bunch of cutscenes and dialogues with your companions. There are several different endings, of course, and some may even be found prematurely, usually as a sudden game over.
Now, some Baldur’s Gate 3 players are “disappointed there was nothing after the final fight, not even a party to mingle with everyone.” They wanted “a chance to talk to them about their plans moving forward.”
Fans also suggested that Larian Studios could add something like Mass Effect 3’s Citadel DLC to Baldur’s Gate 3. It allows you to have a final party with all your companions in ME3 just before the final battle, but you can choose to play it after the ending.
One user added that “there are some armors only available in the last fight” but you never get to use them. “Let us celebrate and pick cool outfits or armor to have the end of the game in! Don’t just stick us in a cutscene all bloodied and then lock us out of the game forever,” they wrote. Another user even suggested a new game plus game mode “where you get to keep your gear and stuff.”
One user, ‘kaze950,’ suggested their own version of the ending sequence they would like to see in Baldur’s Gate 3. They would like a party after the final fight, and the “current ending sequence” to follow that. However, they also wanted more options for the ending where “everyone is mind controlled.”
This would then be followed by an epilogue where the fate of all major characters is explored, probably through narration. The Fallout games have a similar epilogue which explains what the in-game characters and factions would do after the ending.
Many Baldur’s Gate 3 players agreed that the ending was a bit rushed. One of them wrote, “Act 3 just feels super anti-climactic and overwhelming after how well-designed Act 1 was and how cinematic Act 2 was.”
