Baldur's Gate 3 Romance Scene during Act 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 fans reported an old bug returning during the Circus of the Last Days quests, which started to affect romance scenes in a “clownish” way.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has an immense world that almost seems to get bigger once players reach Act 3. The city is a huge map that has given players countless surprises from unexpected bugs. While Larian Studios have tried to optimize this part of Faerun in every update, fans have reported that a hilarious glitch has reappeared after the latest hotfix.

Before entering Baldur’s Gate 3, players will have to go through the Circus of the Last Days, a location filled with secrets that serve as a perfect segway to what’s happening in the last part of the narrative. Most fans opt to buy there an item that lets them use clown makeup with some powerful buffs, which is meant to wear off after a Long Rest.

But even after trying everything, players have reported getting stuck with this appearance even in most “sensible” romance scenes.

“Early in Act III I got to the Circus and my charlatan found the vendor selling (very expensive) face paint. It said it would give me a clown face until a long rest, and I thought it might be useful to blend into the circus since I bluffed my way in by saying I was a new performer. I had the rest of the party painted like Bozo as well just in case,” described Redditor ‘Annika2020pro.’

The user then proceeded to describe that, after getting the Long Rest, the Shadowheart romance scene started, and both of them had kept their clown faces on. “Yes, the tender romance scene that I’d been looking forward to for dozens of hours featured both Shadowheart and my Tav speaking tenderly to each other naked, with ridiculous clown paint on their faces,” concluded the OP.

While most Baldur’s Gate 3 fans couldn’t help to laugh at the situation, others described how this same bug affects Halsin’s romance scene. “Legit happened with me and Halsin. If he can be a bear, I can be a clown. Someone is surely into that, right? RIGHT?” joked Redditor ‘SputnikVB.’

Players also reported that there’s another related bug where the makeup never expires and keeps every character looking like a clown even in the most dramatic situations.

“I had this bug, I think the only thing that worked was reapplying the clown makeup and then washing it off. While this was happening, I also had the fake Jaheira has clown makeup bug, which I assumed was intentional, and am sad it’s gone,” commented Redditor ‘ChatParty.’

And that’s why Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn about romance scenes that happen after the Circus of the Last Days during Act 3. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ RPG, you can check how to fix Xbox save issues or what method players used to finally kill Withers.
